Early life[edit]

Macht was born inThe Bronx,New York,the son of Suzanne Victoria Pulier, a museum curator and archivist, and

actorStephen Macht.He has three siblings, Jesse, a musician (who appeared onThe Next Great American Band),[1]

Ari

Serbin, and Julie. His parents are bothJewish.[2]

Macht was raised inCaliforniafrom the age of five. Following high school, he attendedCarnegie Mellon College of Fine

Arts,graduating in 1994.[3]

During his time at Carnegie Mellon he became a member ofDelta Upsilonfraternity.[4]

Career[edit]

Macht was nominated for theBest Young Motion Picture Actor Awardafter playing his first role at age eight in the

filmWhy Would I Lie?under thestage nameGabriel Swann.[5]

He has appeared in many film and television roles

includingA Love Song for Bobby Long,Because I Said So,The Recruit,andArchangel. For the 2001 filmBehind Enemy

Lines,Macht spent a week at sea filming on the flight deck, corridors, and hangar bay #3 of the USS Carl Vinson. Macht

played the title role inFrank Miller's2008 adaptationofWill Eisner's comic creationThe Spirit.Although the film was a

failure upon theatrical release, the film and Macht himself both gained acult following.[6]

In July 2010, it was announced that Macht had signed on to star in the newUSA networkdramaSuits,which was

originally known under the working titleA Legal Mind.

The show has been a success for Gabriel having just been

renewed for a fourth season of 16 episodes in October 2013, which will begin airing in March 2014.[8]

in the credits on the officialUSA Networkpage, Macht's name along with co-starPatrick J. Adams'names appear as "co-
