LIVE MUSIC is our first passion, and the foundation on which our company is built. Our commitment to working with only the best instrumentalists and vocalists in the city of Chicago has translated into a reputation for designing and producing great live performances to energize a variety of events, occasions, venues, and formats.

Our flagship dance bands -- The Party Faithful (10- to 12-pieces), Matt Lewis and The Union (9- to 11-pieces), the Matt Reed Band (7 pieces) and Typhanie Monique’s Tryst (6- to 8-piece) -- are top-of-the-line, luxury ensembles, providing our clients with the best musicians and the widest variety of music our industry has to offer. All of our musicians and bands benefit from access to the Great Life Music Songbook, an extensive library of hip and up-to-date musical arrangements created and maintained by GLM co-owner Brian Schwab using the latest in music and computer technology. Our songbook celebrates genres, artists, and styles across the musical spectrum—the great Sinatra-style jazz of the ‘40s and ‘50s, the soulful dance grooves of the ‘60s and ‘70s, the high-energy rock of the ‘80s and ‘90s, and the slick and edgy beats of today. Matt Reed is a performer. Whether it’s as a singer, musician, composer, actor, or bandleader, he has been performing professionally in the Chicagoland area since childhood.

His first professional performing experience was as a child actor/singer, performing in the Lyric Opera’s productions of LaBoheme, Carmen (w/ Placido Domingo) & La Gioconda, and appearing in commercials for Jewel Foods, Sears, and McDonalds among others. After learning how to play guitar for a community theater show, Matt started his first dance band.

Upon graduation from Northwestern University, he became part of the Chicago Music scene, not only achieving Q101 radio airplay with his own music, but also touring and performing sideman duties on guitar, bass, drums, accordion, and piano with different acts. Since this time Matt performed, recorded, toured or sat-in with a variety of music acts such as Paul K and Weathermen, Chris Mills, Shelia Jordan, James Moody, Judy Roberts, Mr. Blotto and Todd Park Mohr. The Matt Reed Band formed in the fall of 2002 and has since played hundreds of weddings, parties, and corporate events both locally and nationally.

Since releasing his first solo album, “Where the Pale Girls Go”, Matt has also busied himself composing for theater, dance, as well as film. He co-wrote music and played the part of Nick Bottom in Striding Lion InterArts Workshop’s production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream (entitled Ill Met By Moonlight). He co-wrote music and performed in Billy the Mountain and Other Wartime Stories (a Frank Zappa inspired piece) at the New York Fringe Festival, which garnered him accolades from the famed Village Voice. Additionally, he co-wrote music for the dance piece “The Jenkins Farm Project” and his film credits include music for “Les Superfisciales”, “Dead Pet”, “Hosoi” (a documentary on skateboard legend Christian Hosoi), and the more recent “Sound of Waves” (a film following a group of surfers on a international surfing trip).

Along with music, Matt is a comedic actor and performer having graduated from the conservatory program at Chicago’s famed Second City as well as performing at Improv Olympic and Comedy Sportz. He continues to perform in various theatrical and musical productions around Chicago, which have included productions at Chicago’s Second City Skybox Theater, the Athenaeum, The Viaduct, The Lincoln Lodge, as well as performing at some of Chicago premier comedy venues. In 2008, his comedy/music trio The Listening Zoo released a double album.

Matt’s performances and compositions have received accolades from such magazines at The Reader, Centerstage Chicago, Daily Candy, Time Out, Sun Times and The Village Voice.
