My Parents

These are my parents. They are both 58 years old. These two have five children, one grandkid with another on the way, and lots of memories (and gray hair, or lack of hair as the case may be) from both. They claim Jonathan, Will and Rose, Kristen, and me. Also, of course, are my sister-in-law, Nou, and my almost-a-sister-in-law, Tara, and Kristen’s boyfriend, David.

Mom and Dad have known each other since they were both Sea Scouts on my grandfather’s boat in New Jersey, where they both grew up. They were thirteen when they met, and they hated each other so much it wasn’t even funny. Obviously they got over that.

Dad is a firefighter. He has been since he was 17 years old. When he was in the Navy, that’s what he did. Dad’s been stationed in Antarctica for 2 years with them before and while he was there he had a pet penguin. Daddy’s about a foot taller than me with big blue eyes, which is where I got mine from. He loves what he does and he loves all of us. Some of his favorite things to do are work in the shed, watch movies or tv with one of us, and play cards whenever the whole family is home. He is definitely a family man. He’s also sweet and funny, and he’s great to be around.

Mom is a nurse health consultant-she’s responsible for 22 health departments in the state. Mom’s been nursing since she was 17. She’s about the same height as me, maybe a little shorter with black hair and green eyes. Some of her favorite things to do are watch movies, listen to her pet birds, read, play her Nintendo DS (yes, we got my mom a DS-she loves video games!), and spend time with her family. Mom is a lot of fun to be around, too. She has fun with just about everything so you can do whatever you want to when you’re hanging out with her, she’s open to anything!
