Thoughts from Sister Jeannine We may call this the spring season or liturgically we are moving into the 50 days of the Easter season, but without a doubt it is the season to celebrate the miracle of all life ~ As we notice those little buds appearing; As we share in the joy of the members of the RCIA coming into the church at the Easter Vigil Mass; As we gather with family and friends and look upon the faces of some new additions (babies or puppies)as well as the older wiser ones; As we look with gratitude upon the familiar faces and places that support our daily life; As we rejoice in the faith that engenders our prayer and the Lord’s caring answers; As we celebrate eternal life for those no longer with us physically. It is the miracle of life made so possible and real in Christ’s Resurrection. Happy Easter from each one in the SSJ School Family! Thoughts from Sister Jeannine We may call this the spring season or liturgically we are moving into the 50 days of the Easter season, but without a doubt it is the season to celebrate the miracle of all life ~

As we notice those little buds appearing;

As we share in the joy of the members of the RCIA coming into the church at the Easter Vigil Mass;

As we gather with family and friends and look upon the faces of some new additions (babies or puppies)as well as the older wiser ones;

As we look with gratitude upon the familiar faces and places that support our daily life;

As we rejoice in the faith that engenders our prayer and the Lord’s caring answers;

As we celebrate eternal life for those no longer with us physically. It is the miracle of life made so possible and real in Christ’s Resurrection. Happy Easter from each one in the SSJ School Family!

In this week’s letter you will find information about:

SS. Simon and Jude Mission Statement

Through the Immaculate Heart of Mary we at Saints Simon and Jude School, commit ourselves to learning,

proclaiming and living the Good News of Jesus Christ. We strive to educate and develop all for Catholic

leadership in the church and community, enabling one another to serve with

Compassion, Courage and Competence.

SSJ Family Bingo night has been reschedule to Friday April 24th

New Requests and Opportunities 1. In order to make us more aware of the Easter season, Student Council will be constructing a sunrise mural in

the cafeteria. Each student will be a part of this sunrise and complete a yellow circle on which they will write their names on the front and on the back write how his/her faith has risen (grown) by performing a Lenten act of prayer, sacrifice, or alms giving. “Together We Rise in Faith”

2. In our usual SSJ community of caring, many have asked how to offer help to the Musumeci family. After Easter

we will send a letter outlining how the homeroom parents will aid in this “project.”

3. There will be posted on the website a letter regarding an essay contest for the First Annual Diocesan May Procession May 3, 2015 – 2:00 PM. Mary’s Court for Crowning will be selected from brief essays submitted by individuals or families entitled: “Why My Family Calls Upon Mary”. Guidelines and submission methods will be included there. Everyone, students and adults, alike are encouraged to submit an essay! Click here to follow the link

Repeated Requests and Opportunities 1. If you have not had the opportunity to attend the Living Stations here at SSJ consider coming on Good Friday

evening at 8:00 PM. It is presented by adult parishioners and is very prayerful and powerful. 2. Spring Uniforms started on April 1, 2015. For the girls this includes golf shirts and skorts and for the boys this

includes golf shirts and shorts. Although with this crazy weather, it may be too cold. 3. From the Nurse’s office: If you have received a third and final notice for missing medical requirements per PA State

Law, please hand them in as soon as possible to the school nurse. The deadline of May 1st is fast approaching. Failure to hand in this required information results in your child not being able to come to school starting on Friday, May 1, 2015 until the information is received. If you have any questions, please contact us at 610-692-8464. Thank you. Pam Dutill, RN and Inez Burg, Rn, CSN.

4. Special Chick-Fil-A lunch on April 10th to benefit Pedal for Pink. If you need a new flyer, please contact the main

office, [email protected].

Expressions of Gratitude and Congratulations

1. Thank you to all who supported many of the Lenten charitable drives – CRS rice bowl, Operation Easter Outfit and the toiletries for Camilla. No one can do it all so whatever you were able to do, giving such a wonderful example to your child/ren – thank you!

2. We were offered some “left-over” diocesan funds from this year’s PA book order. With $5,000 given we were

able to order 13 new iPads which will now be used in grade 6 so that the whole middle school will be using the iPad. We still need to purchase about 30 more but God will provide!! (Grade 6 will not take their devices home as is allowed in grades 7 and 8.) We are so blessed.

This week from a parent of rather recent alums: Denise Booth

“SS. Simon and Jude School has made a difference in the lives of our three children. It is evident to all who walk

through the halls of SS. Simon and Jude School that it is a school 100% dedicated to sharing our Catholic Christian

beliefs with all of the children. Our children have been taught Christian values, respect and responsibility, in

addition to receiving a superior education. SS. Simon and Jude has taught them to see excellence and pursue it, to

work hard and expect the very best. Our teachers and principal do an excellent job instilling confidence in the

children so that they will succeed. Above all else, SS. Simon and Jude School has taught our children to see Jesus in

others and to treat others the way that they want to be treated. This will serve them well throughout their lives. SS.

Simon and Jude School has truly made a difference in the lives of our children.”

Prayer requests: Please keep the following intentions in your prayers: 1. For Vinny Musumeci and his family 2. For Aoife Mannion’s (grade 4) grandfather who is ill. 3. For Sebastian (Gr. 2) and Gabriel (Gr. K) Molavoque’s aunt who is ill 4. For Mrs. Rose McCormack, long time lunch aide, who is ill 5. For Mrs. Dryfoos’ mom who is ill. 6. For Izzy (Gr. 1) and Gena (Gr. 4) Volpe’s grandfather who is beginning treatments on Friday. 7. God and Father of us all, in Jesus, your Son and our Savior, you have made us your sons and daughters in the family of the Church. May your grace and love help our families in every part of the world be united to one another in fidelity to the Gospel. May the example of the Holy Family, with the aid of your Holy Spirit, guide all families, especially those most troubled, to be homes of communion and prayer and to always seek your truth and live in your love. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. Jesus, Mary and Joseph, pray for us!
