During one of her visits with us, Lynn overheard another patient mention that he could not afford the $45 necessary for a particular medication. By November of that year, Lynn and her husband Jerry had made a personal donation to establish the Anderson Pharmacy Fund (APF) for oncology patients at LRGH, which ensures Anderson Ganong Cancer Center patients receive the medications they need while they find more permanent resources. Jerry passed away in 2005, but the APF lives on today. Ganong Family Brenda Ganong began her journey with us when she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1998. With a five year cycle of treatment in front of her, Brenda became a good friend of LRGH Oncology. Motivated by her experience and the loss of too many loved ones, Brenda and her husband John started the Winnipesaukee Ride against Breast Cancer in 2003, a motorcycle ride to raise funds and awareness in the fight against cancer. Known today as Brenda’s Ride with Friends: Fighting Cancer One Mile at a Time, the event is held each August, welcoming hundreds of supporters and raising significant funds to help local patients diagnosed with cancer.

ABOUT OUR FAMILY… The AGCC began simply as the hematology/oncology department in an old patient room at Lakes Region General Hospital (LRGH) 25 years ago.

Now, with its own wing and a new name, the AGCC continues to restore hope every day to those fighting cancer or blood disorders by delivering exemplary care to patients in a truly personal way.

THE DRAGONFLY Represents power, poise, living in the moment, prosperity, good luck, joy, and new light; all of which are important not only for our patients to have as they fight their illness, but for us to deliver to them.
