ABOUT GSHGGirl Scouts is the premiere leadership development program for girls. For more than 100 years, Girl Scouts has been dedicated to building girls of courage, confidence, andcharacter, who make the world a better place. Through research-based programs that are girl-led, experiential, and collaborative, girls discover their unique skills and gifts, connect with others and the world around them, and take action to make a difference in their communities. Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia is the home of our organization’sfounder, Juliette Gordon Low. “Daisy” founded Girl Scouts onMarch 12, 1912 in Savannah, Georgia, where her birthplace andhistoric Girl Scout First Headquarters still welcome thousandsof Girl Scouts every year. The council extends from the North Georgia mountains to theOkefenokee and from the Atlantic coast to the ChattahoocheeValley. We serve: • More than 13,000 girls and 4,500 adults in 122 counties in Georgia • Two counties in South Carolina and one county in Alabama • A footprint of more than 48,000 square miles

Girl Scout programming emphasizes STEM, healthy relationships and living, outdoor expe-riences, education, leadership development, and service. As a result, girls who participate in Girl Scouting are more likely than non-Girl Scouts to: • Set ambitious goals and think about the future • Be more financially astute and self-reliant • Advocate for themselves and others • Self-identify as a leader and take on leadership roles • Practice empathy and emotional intelligence • Care about and take action for social justice • Be more solution oriented • Embrace new experiences and overcome failure

Join Juliette Gordon Low, who believed so much in the importance of Girl Scouting, she sold her beloved pearls, a wedding gift from her husband, for $8,000 to keep the program going. Your investment in Girl Scouting will help continue Juliette’s legacy and build tomorrow’s female leaders and your future workforce.
