ABOUT THE COMPANY

Weeping Spoon Productions is an international multi-award

winning independent theatre company based in Perth,

Western Australia. Co-founded by a group of professionally

trained actors, Weeping Spoon Productions has become one of

the most prolific theatre companies in Perth.

Weeping Spoon’s ongoing mission is to create challenging, exciting and innovative works for

production in Western Australia and tour these productions throughout Australia and

CAST/CREW

@ShaneAdamczak

Shane Adamczak (Writer/Producer/Performer) graduated from WAAPA in 2003 and is a founding member and current Artistic Director of Independent Theatre Company Weeping Spoon Productions as well as a Company Associate of Spare Parts Puppet Theatre with whom he most recently performed the Australian national tour of The Little Prince.

He has just returned from a Canadian tour of his ★★★★★ Fringe hit show The Ballad Of Frank Allen which took out the coveted Just For Laughs (Best Comedy) Award at the 2017 Montreal Fringe. A regular on the Canadian Fringe circuit, his most recent work includes a Canadian Tour of his award-winning plays TRAMPOLINE and The Ballad Of Frank Allen, Greg Fleet’s multi-award winning THIS IS NOT A LOVE SONG and Richard O’Brien’s The Rocky Horror Show (as Brad Majors). He also gained critical acclaim for his portrayal of iconic Sex Pistols front-man Johnny Rotten in the award winning Canadian play Vicious Circles. He was also a cast member of LA Troupe Sound & Fury for their 2015 and 2017 Australian Fringe Tours. Shane is also known for his alter-ego project Zack Adams which has toured Australia and internationally over the last decade and was nominated for several Canadian Fringe Awards. As an Improviser, he a senior player of Improv-comedy troupe The Big HOO-HAA!, TheatreSports Champion and creator of cult-hit Captain Spaceship. Shane also recently appeared on screen in the mini-series The War The Changed Us the feature film Paper Planes and is currently the face of STAN’s “Hungry Eyes” campaign.

@MikaLaulainen

Mika Laulainen (Stage Manager/designer) is a theatre maker based out of Vancouver, Canada. She holds a BFA in Theatre from the University of Victoria with a specialization in Direction, and has further trained with The Old Trout Puppet Workshop at the Banff Puppet Theatre Intensive and Emmanuelle Delpech of Pig Iron Theatre Company. Mika has puppeteered and built with Canadian companies such as Axis Theatre, The Only Animal, Upintheair, The Vancouver International Children's Festival, and most recently, Lost & Found Puppet Company. She produces her own work under the banner of star star theatre. This is Mika's first international collaboration.

Michael Fragomeni (Sound Design) is a full time composer and sound-designer working out of Brainestorm Studios in West Perth, Western Australia - a studio which is owned and managed by himself and a colleague, Nick Gallagher. Over the past 5 years he has composed music for a variety of media, including Films (short and long), Web-series’, live events and many Television Ad-Campaigns. Some notable Ad-Campaigns including Lotterywest, City of Perth, Ikea and Kleenheat . Film credits include Broken Contract, Crumbs, and Council written and directed by Hayden Fortescue, and winner of the 2017 Next-Gen award for Best Sound/Music.

Chloe Flockhart (Puppetry build mentor) is a multidisciplinary artist from Perth, Western Australia. Most readily known for her in-depth knowledge and skills as a puppetry artist, she is also a designer, performer, visual artist, and is recognised for excellence in creating and delivering STEAM workshops for schools and festivals. Formally trained in Screen Acting (FTI Western Australia), Site Specific Dance and Theatre (CalArts online program), and Puppetry (First Hand puppetry internship, Spare Parts puppet theatre), Chloe has also dedicated countless hours to research and practical training in Design and construction of puppets, props, and costume. Her rigorous pursuit of knowledge and continuous self guided education has made her an in demand educator at schools, and mentor to artists. In her “professional” career she has performed in the Perth International Arts Festival (2012-2016), tour, devise, and build for Spare Parts Puppet theatre, and build and mentor for the Helpmann award winning Bambert’s Book of Lost Stories.

Cali Cheers (Costume Designer) Cali has previously worked with Adelaide theatre company Heartspace assisting with wardrobe, props and set design and is currently extensively involved within the Australian Costuming community, including the Australian Costumers Guild.
