ELECTRONICS AND COMMUNICATION ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT
About the faculty of ECE
In today’s era of technology we can easily quote this:
“Everything in this materialistic
world is designed by engineers, made by engineers and
maintained by engineers.”
The theme of this degree course is the convergence of
electronic systems and communications systems – the
process which has given us the internet, mobile phones, and
global networks.
Electronics & Communication Engineering is a broad
engineering field that covers important subfields such as
Analog Electronics, Digital electronics, consumer electronics, embedded systems and power
electronics. Electronics engineering deals with implementation of applications, principles and
algorithms developed within many related fields, for example solid-state physics, radio
engineering, telecommunications, control systems, signal processing, systems engineering,
computer engineering, instrumentation engineering, electric power control, automation, robotics,
and many others.
LABORATORY-
The Faculty of ECE has well-established laboratories and is continuously growing. Our labs are
equipped with basic to advanced equipments which impart a technical exposure to the students.
Our department includes Basic electrical and electronics lab, Analog lab, and digital,
microprocessor, microcontroller, and microwave & project lab. Besides other labs ECE
department has its separate fully air conditioned computer Labs having 32 LCD computers with
latest configuration. Latest version software for MATLAB and VLSI lab has been installed in the
computer Lab.
The Faculty has held aloft the beacon of knowledge, research and education in the field of
engineering throughout its existence. It is innovative and comprehensive scheme of education
aims at excellence but not at the cost of relevance encourages initiative and creative work, which
prepares the student for the increasingly techno-oriented world.
The mission of the department is to create engineers of high technical skills in the Electronics &
communication Engineering field to serve the society & nation. Faculty members are actively
involved in research (published papers international/national level journals) of national
importance. The faculty has a deep sense of belonging to the institution and is devoted to
maximizing the opportunities available to students across the campus and beyond. The teaching

methods inspire the students in such a way that they consider study as passion but not as
compulsion. ECE students always find their teachers ready to answer their queries, solve their
problems and provide them valuable suggestions. Hence, if a student is looking for a lifelong
teacher or Guru, he/she will find at NWGOI. At last but not least the student is not only
associated with the faculty of ECE from XENIA (Name of our fresher party) to WAQT-E-
RUKHSAT (Name of our farewell party), but we are also working for a mission 2020 when
he/she will find himself/herself at the top positions among the technocrats.
Scope of the course
Electronics touches on almost all areas of human activity, so its applications are diverse. There
are several career opportunities in ECE such as Defense services [Indian army, Indian navy and
Indian air force]. Basically Defense services recruitment covers the field of electronics and
communication engineering because they deal with microwave, radar, telecommunication,
networking which are the major subjects of ECE.
Second major area of recruitment of ECE students is in telecommunication [BSNL, Airtel,
Vodafone, Idea, Tata indicom ... many more]. Students are capable for this because they are
already prepared for this field with the knowledge of antenna and wave propagation, cellular
mobile communication, wireless communication subjects.
Third major area of recruitment covers government sector in various areas like DRDO,
Doordarshan, Prasar bharti, electricity board, ISRO, BEL, BHEL, HP, IOCL, GAIL, BALCO.
Other general options for ECE engineers are multinational core companies like ST
microelectronics, Flextronics, Siemens, SCL, Infosys, Accenture. The electronics engineers are
directly eligible for SSB interview for job in defence services. Automation engineering is
dependent on electronics engineering because they have studied microcontroller and embedded
system, microprocessor which are used for PLC designing. Recruitment of ECE students is also
done for chip designing using Very Large Scale Integrated Course.
As ECE is closely related to computers, students can even finally opt as software engineers in
any IT company. For Further studies electronics students can join Master of engineering (VLSI,
Wireless, ECE, communication system, control engg.) and MS (Foreign Studies). Reputed
multinational companies have consistently recruited our students through campus placements
and each year a large number of its students are placed in public and private sector companies.
