The Powerlist Foundation is a UK registered charity which was established in 2010. Our motto is Sharing Success with Tomorrows Leaders. We do this by promoting the development of young people in achieving their leadership potential.

    OBLIGATION TO GIVE BACK

All members of society have an obligation to contribute to the greater good. This universal obligation should be discharged in proportion

to the scale and nature of an individuals resources.

    EQUALITY OF OPPORTUNITY

All people should have equal access to opportunities for personal advancement

irrespective of their race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, age, physical

abilities, religious beliefs or political beliefs.

    INCLUSIVENESS

The work of the Powerlist Foundation is planned, resourced, managed, delivered and

received by the most appropriate people, irrespective of their race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, age, physical abilities, religious beliefs or

    political beliefs.

    POWER OF COMMUNITY

Societys whole is greater than the sum of its parts and the Powerlist Foundation will only achieve its

vision by forging partnerships and collaborating with others who share our vision.

Our experience over the past 5 years has shown that the best way to do this is by providing a series of leadership programmes (courses, workshops, networking opportunities, coaching, peer to peer mentoring) for high achieving young people who have experienced some form of disadvantage. For example despite having studied hard to get to university, many students from disadvantaged backgrounds continue to face barriers to success after they graduate. In order to support these young people, our solution is to dedicate significant resources to providing them with practical opportunities to learn and build leadership skills so that they emerge as leaders and appreciate the impact that their talent and leadership can have on society as a whole. Our programme of activities equips them with the knowledge to navigate a world that is undergoing continuous change especially where traditional sources of advice may lack leading-edge experience of those changes. Our main activity is an intensive 3-day Annual Leadership programme, which we have delivered in collaboration with Deloitte LLP since 2011. The programme is currently for African and African Caribbean university undergraduates aged 18-21. We utilise our links with people like you - Powerlist Magazines influential role models - to provide young people with access to a rich source of experience and networking. Our Leadership Programme acts as a seed bed for nurturing ambitious and conscientious young leaders and what is most important to the Powerlist Foundation are the ways in which their lives are transformed by taking part. "The Powerlist Foundation Leadership Programme truly has changed my life. I learnt that my personality is not a weakness; it is in a fact my strength. Until this programme, I believed that my introverted personality would hold me back from being the best leader I can be. This programme has also taught me that a multitude of successful people were not expecting to be leaders, it was something that happened as a result of the magnitude

of work they contributed to their field. Thank you so much for contributing to the best experience of my life so far." Yolanda Kisenyi (2015 delegate) 19 years old studying a degree in International Relations at the University of Birmingham. The lasting impact we have on young people is to help them develop into great leaders by teaching them what we've learned and encouraging them beyond the 3 day programme as they take on new challenges. We are passionate and devoted to changing young people's lives by extending our high

level leadership programme across the country. We want to ensure that more young people are able to maximise their full leadership

potential, irrespective of gender, race, school or family background.

We seek out young people from working class communities with both leadership potential and a desire to be tomorrows leaders.

We connect them with a network of influential decision-makers in order for them to lead change.

We arm young people with the self-awareness to be clear about their potential, their

purpose and the contribution they want to make to our nation. We nurture the next generation of leaders by coaching and advising students. Although there is high demand for our programme of activities (we receive over 100 applications every year), our current resources allow us to support 60 young people each year; however we continue to provide help and assistance to just over 200 young people (those who participated in our leadership programme in 2011, 2013, 2014 and 2015). With additional help (guidance and advice, pro bono support, mentoring, financial support) we would be able to scale up our activities, benefit more disadvantaged young people from diverse backgrounds and continue to guide and support our current beneficiaries.
