Rtn.Sini's message to Midtowners:Dear FriendsI like to extend my appreciation to my MIDTOWN

Family for your unconditional support and care during my mother's hospitalization. I thank my wonderful friend and Doctor, Prahlad who attended to my mother as his own. I could see and feel the risks and pain he took to see her walking back home. I was very lucky to have the soft spoken and strong pillar of support, Dr. Ravindranath by my side when I thought I was losing. His presence soothed me and gave me the courage to pull through the hospital ordeal. DrApoorva lent his shoulder for me to cry when I broke down, thank you Apoorva. I cannot forget to thank DrNairuthya who made my mother comfortable and I highly appreciate his medical skills. I feel the support and dedication of my Midtown family exceeds my own in helping and healing my mother. I am blessed to have such friends. THANK YOU.

Midtown Venus Shramajeevi award 2014 presentedIt was probably after a very long time that

the meeting hall was jam packed; many Rotarians were seen standing while allowing the guests to comfortably follow the proceedings of the meeting. Thanks to a huge contingency of press, fans & family members of photographer “Chikkappa” and Keshav Hegde, the hall was filled to its capacity. Slight drizzle did not deter people from attending yet another meaningful evening. Rtn.Bhanu began the proceedings in his usual fluent kannada added with more confidence due to his new pair of spectacles and the glory at district level awards. After welcoming the

gathering it was time for AG Rtn.Bheemanna to take over the charge, he explained the significance & history of the meaningful award instituted by Rtn.Venky during the term of PP Rtn.Nandoo. He went on to introduce the chief guest of the day Rtn.Parameshwarppa. Rtn.Dr.Prahlad was asked to introduce one of the awardees Mr.Keshav Hegde to the jam packed hall explaining how Keshav faced hardships and nurtured his interest in art. Rtn.Bheemesh introducing the second awardee, Midtown's official photographer (also at many other clubs) Mr.Lakshmi Venkatesha lauded the efforts of Lakshmi for his dedicated efforts.

It was time for the purpose of the evening meeting, the 2 awardees were felicitated by the chief guest amidst applause by the patient audience. A large group of Rotarians from Rotary Mysore seemingly ex-rotaractors were present on the occasion. After the shutters & flashes captured the moments of the awards presentation, it was time for some serious thoughts by the chief guest. He narrated 3 different stories to make his point. The first was that of how Basavanna transformed the land into a prosperous one by following the magic mantra “Kayaka”. The second story was that of a humble lamp & a lamp post, the third story was that of Rotary project beneficiary. Rtn.Parameshwarappa lauded the efforts of Midtown and appreciated the unique initiatives of the club. He said the club is synonymous for its innovative projects in the entire district. The chief guest appreciated and motivated the two awardees to continue their dedicated efforts. Sharing his frank thoughts, Keshav Hedge started in a simple tone. He said that the award truly meant the world for him and said that this award was like water to a germinating seed which would have otherwise perished. Having toiled for years without yielding results, he was on the brink of giving up and this recognition by Midtown has made him bounce back to life and has given him confidence to achieve big in future. Keshav had painstakingly displayed his work of arts neatly arranged on tables inside the hall. His works were outstanding and gavee Midtowners a sense of satisfaction at recognizing his talent. Keshav, a part time cook is a talented artist; he went on to display his talent onstage by “mimicry”. The mimicry using months as a concept in different styles of music was appreciated by the audience.

An ex-rotaractor, Midtown's official photographer, ever smiling “Chikkappa” began his acceptance speech

with a very humble note recognizing his near and dear ones. He narrated how he got into the field of photography thru R.G.Singh and was professionally trained by Mr.M.B.Singh. Chikkappa in his short but effective speech spoke his heart sharing his thoughts. Rtn.Dr.Prahlad proposed a vote of thanks while most of the seats were still occupied (surprisingly). All thru, the award sponsor, Midtown's President Elect, philanthropist Rtn.R.Venkatesh smiled and looked seemingly happy at the proceedings of the awards function.

End quip: Why is photographer Lakshmi Venkatesh called as “Chikkappa”. RG says there is a story behind it, we

need to know the story soon!!!
