ABOUT US

VISION

Our vision is to enhance everyday factory life for you

and your team.

Through our expertise we seek out the friction and

bottle necks then design better solutions for your

product line.

We see ourselves as your key partner and we want to

do business with you, so we don’t initiate any

relationship with pre-existing assumptions or off the

shelf solutions.

LET’S SEE IF WE ARE A FIT

Cox & Plant is an industry-leading producer of turnkey solutions for

food processing and we are approaching our 50th year. We pride

ourselves on the quality and longevity of our products and the

Return on Investment you will gain from investing in a Cox & Plant

solution will increase your processing capability and add growth to

your bottom line.

We would love to have 15 minutes of your valuable time for us to

talk about any production issues you are currently facing. We can

both gain a better outcome by talking so let us talk as soon as you

are available.

Ultra-Low Cost of Ownership The longevity of our conveyors is one of greatest achievements. There are minimum parts so less to spend on spares and less maintenance downtime

A Better Working Environment Less noise as our conveyors have a running noise of just 55-60 dB(A). Less vibration as our mounts absorb up to 99.7% of all transmitted vibration.

Low Energy Usage A vibratory conveyor with 2 TPH of product on draws down 6.2 Amps of a 240 Volt supply. This equates to 1488 watts which is only 13p per hour!

Industry-Leading IP Rating Our unique world leading coil drive technology has produced the most powerful electromagnetic conveyors in the industry. They are IP 69 rated as standard.

PUSHING BOUNDARIES WITH OUR DESIGN

World Class Hygiene Standards Wherever possible we eliminate any edges, crevices and shelves, as well as continuous welding so we reduce places for bacteria to grow

Recycling Our vibratory conveyors are 99% recyclable: only the rubber from the anti-vibration mounts is not recycled and this is based on economics

Longer Running Times Our conveyors work in most environments from +50° to –50° and they can run continuously, 24 hours a day 7 days a week

5 Year Warranty This option is available on all our vibratory conveyors which proves that we have absolute faith in the quality of our own equipment.

Our machinery has a 100% hygiene guarantee with no bug

traps due to the continuous welding of our metal trays and

minimal working parts. Our control panels are IP 69 rated

enabling easy and safe wash down.

Wherever possible we eliminate bacteria traps as we

design out edges, crevices, and shelves. We also test

cleaning solutions on our conveyors to ensure there is no

degradation even if concentrated chemicals are used in

error occasionally, hence our preference for grade 316

stainless steel.

CASE STUDIES

9

One of Europe’s fastest growing value-added meat production companies, in the West Midlands

came to us with an issue. They produce a wide range of processed beef, lamb, pork and poultry

they supply the leading names in the retail, food service and manufacturing sectors.

THE NEED

We understood the need to develop a design solution that would satisfy this customer’s specific

criteria: these were critical to secure his investment decision.

• A production configuration which would guarantee that quality standards were exceeded

• A solution which would minimise disruption to factory output

• A layout to maximise existing space utilisation

• An installation which would extend the life of his existing factory

• A project where a fast return on investment was attractive

OUR ACHIEVEMENTS

The project was delivered on time and on budget and the system was commissioned within

days of installation. 7 months later, the line is operational 7 days per week on a rolling

process & deep clean schedule

10

Our client operates out of two specialist sites in the UK and another in Southern Spain in the

production of salads and vegetables, turning over more than £100M. They have achieved this

through their unerring focus on quality, with production capability that demands flexibility,

reliability, fast changeovers and tight scheduled hygiene times.

THE NEED

The integrity of the brand centres around their responsive approach to meeting their clients

exacting needs. The challenge was to ensure that their customer requirements were fully

reflected in our production design solution, for each of the new lines that we installed.

OUR ACHIEVEMENTS

Detailed communication and the opportunity to explore new operating standards for each of

their lines was the starting point. Further to this we accomplished:

• Rigorous ‘12 hour overnight’ replacement schedule achieved line by line

• All old equipment removed and replaced with the Cox & Plant machines

• Unique synchronisation feature achieved outstanding levels of accuracy of multihead

weighments, by perfectly feeding an even stream of product across 360° of the

multihead weigher 11 11

A leading vegetarian food manufacturer has a simple message; “to bring people delicious

and exciting food that is good for them and good for the planet”.

THE NEED

The critical elements which drive Quorn production are:

• Efficient and fast deep cleaning procedures

• Product quality and food safety

The need to significantly improve the key performance indicator in the area of operational

efficiency was a compelling feature of the project.

OUR ACHIEVEMENTS

Faced with the challenge of achieving 65% process efficiency, we smashed through this

figure to achieve an impressive 93%.

Our ability to understand the client’s line methodology and its importance for the staff in each

department – quality control, engineering, production planners and operatives, meant that we

were able to get the perfect performance blend for each and every line.

FEEDING MULTIHEAD WEIGHERS In our experience optimising the feed to a multihead weigher can lead to the fastest return on investment. 12-16 weeks is the typical amount of time but we have achieved ROI in only 19 days.

The Background: Multihead weighers use a number of different weigh heads to generate precise measurements of products by calculating the weight in each weigh head. Belt conveyors are not responsive enough to evenly spread surges of mass product when the dispersion table is full. This leads to overfeeding of the multihead weigher, which hinders the ability of the machine to produce an accurate weighment and often leads to significant amounts of giveaway of product.

Our Solution: Improved production efficiency can be achieved through the use of a vibratory cross head feeder with our peripheral discharge (circular), which is designed and constructed to get a perfect 360 degree feed to the dispersion table on the top of the multihead. Our system harmonises the infeed speed to the multihead weigher by tracking the run times which then automatically adjusts the conveyor speed.
