Aboe & Beyond’s CaRE Appeal (Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy Enironment Appeal) is maina dierence to cancer patients and their amilies in Bristol and the Soth West, by transorminthe Bristol Haematoloy & Oncoloy Centre. Money raised by the Appeal will be used in our key areas within the BHOC with a ocus on the needs opatients and their amilies or space, privacy and a welcoming environment. • Main reception The existing main reception area will be transormed to create a bright and welcoming area or patients and visitors. • Outpatients Department The CaRE Appeal will und the redesign othe Outpatients Department to provide 12 new clinic rooms and some private side-rooms or whoever needs them. I ound myselat the Bristol Haematology & Oncology Centre ater being diagnosed with Acute Myloid Leukaemia in November 2005. The doctors and nurses were amazing and their constant care and sense ohumour helped me to get through what was a challenging time. Following chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant I am in complete remission, which I owe to the superb treatment and ollow-up I received rom the whole team. I have been so lucky, as my amily, Sunshine & Optimism - Stephy’s story riends and everyone at the BHOC have been wonderul and given me great support. When I heard about the reurbishment I was so pleased. It will provide surroundings to lit patient spirits during an otherwise traumatic time in their lie and a better working environment or the sta. It will be somewhere to match their sunshine and optimism. That’s why I’m telling everyone I know about the CaRE Appeal and urging them to get involved. Stephy Moran An ever grateul patient. • Support Services Patient support services will be relocated to the ront entrance othe building and the inormation centre will be reurbished to enable better access or all. • Arts programme The value oartwork and an engaging environment has long been recognised as being benefcial to a patient’s wellbeing and recovery. Part othe CaRE Appeal transormation will be to integrate artwork, colours and lighting to provide a calming and relaxing environment throughout the building. We can only do this with your help.
