REALTIME VIRTUAL REALITY HEADSET Adarsh Bansal Mechanical Engg. (III yr) Roll. No. –134121 S.no. - 11

INTRODUCTION: Virtual reality is an artificial environment that is created with software and presented to the user in such a way

that the user suspends belief and accepts it as a real environment. It is awesome to experience VR in real time as it creates an

environment similar to the real world in order to create a lifelike experience—for example, in controlling rovers, UAV’s, driverless

transportation like rapid transits, four wheelers and in real-time surveillance from any corner of the world. This project is unique

as it allows the operator to control a specific job at a time while keeping himself fully immersed as in real life situation.

PROBLEM STATEMENT: The project involves following problems and their solutions.

S.no. Problem Solution Problem Solution 1., 4. Recording media in

real time. Using a video camera of preferably wide angle view.

Controlling the movement of camera with the help of SENSODUINO data.

Using a Pan/Tilt Servo Platform with the camera mounted on it with the servos using accelerometer data to control the angles of the pan/tilt platform remotely.

2. Requirement of special device to experience media in V.R.

Using a commercially available VR headset in market. (For ex- a low cost GOOGLE CARDBOARD USING A MOUNTED SMARTPHONE AS VIDEO SCREEN AND HEADTRACKING SENSOR.)

3.,5. Tracking head motions for controlling detecting observers sight.

Capturing the phone’s inbuilt ACCLEROMETER senor data with the SENSODUINO app that works with respect to the change orientation of the smartphone.

Transferring phone’s data to the Pan/Tilt Servo Platform.

Transmitting data through bluetooth to ARDUINO microcontroller via a HC-5 bluetooth module and then to servo.

Google Cardboard Stereoscopic wide angle view with GOOGLE CARDBOARD APP

Wiring the circuit Pan/Tilt Servo Platform Sensoduino App Pan Servo tilt Platform

RESULT: The suggested solutions to the expected problems provide the optimal use of VR in social, scientific and economic

applications. It provides a feasible option to utilize the technology at a fairly affordable cost. By imparting suitable changes in design

to the project it is possible to construct a commercially acceptable product. This is evident from the chart mentioned below:

APPLICATIONS:

1. Preview a new office building 2. Attend tech conferences 3. Interview candidates 4. Complex training sessions 5. Robotic surgeries 6. Pulling in remote workers (workers can work from homes) 7. Less business travel

There may be even more applications to Virtual reality and all that too in
