THE MACALLAN EDITION NO. 5The Macallan has unveiled the fifth release in its highly collectible Edition Series, which showcases the defining elements of the single malt through cask transparency and insights into the whisky making process.

The Macallan Edition No.5 showcases the diverse range of natural colour which occurs through the careful and meticulous management of spirit and wood at The Macallan Distillery on Speyside. This is brought to life through a collaboration with the Pantone Color Institute™, themselves masters of colour. Inspired by The Macallan’s natural colour spectrum and the intricate whisky making process, Pantone created a new shade of purple which was used as the main theme of this release. The rainbow’s most complex colour, purple is chosen to explain the precision in our whisky making process at The Macallan.

A CASK-LED FLAVOUR EXPERIENCEThe Macallan Trilogy unveils the skill and craft of The Macallan Masters in a collection of cask led flavour experiences. Our passion and expertise in bringing the best out of wood and spirit is embodied by our 12 year old Macallan expressions, which expose the individuality of cask selection and the distinctiveness of their flavours.

The Macallan Sherry Oak is matured exclusively in Oloroso sherry seasoned oak casks from Jerez, and is rich, fruity and full bodied.

Triple Cask Matured range brings together whiskies matured in the three cask types, European Oak sherry seasoned, American Oak sherry seasoned and American Bourbon casks.

The Macallan Double Cask takes the best of two worlds to balance the classic Macallan style with the sweet influence of sherry seasoned American oak.

PORT CHARLOTTE ISLAY BARLEY 2012The barley used in this Port Charlotte Islay Barley 2012 comes from 8 farms across Islay. A project that started with 1 farm in 2004, in 2018 we sourced around 40% of our total growing needs from the island – one of only 2 of the 9 Islay distilleries to use Islay grown grain. Each vintage release is limited to the harvest and like a fine wine, reflects the unique growing specificities of that year.

OCTOMORE 10’SIn this tenth series of Octomore, Head Distiller Adam Hannett explores the realms of ‘softer smoke’. Since first introducing the world’s most heavily peated single malt at 131ppm, the series has morphed into something legendary for peat freaks. The cult following demanded more and more again, and the challenge was accepted.

Pushing beyond the boundaries of conventional malt whisky wisdom, and the known possibilities of the malting process, the outer limit of 309ppm was eventually achieved.
