math skills using C. Why C? C is a high level software language which is closest to the machine level. You will be

required to write 20-30 programming exercises in addition to theoretical Q&A assignments. Typical projects include

factorial, generating prime numbers, computing Fibonacci numbers using both non-recursive and recursive methods,

learning complex abstract data type, etc. Multiple quizzes will be given in order to ensure proper progress is made.

If you have already had some programming experience, consult the Director at Storming

Robots which Phase you should start with.

A50 – MOTION SENSING WITH ROBOTICS – 2 PHASES GRADE 8+ Motion sensitive devices have become part of our daily lives, such as vehicles, computers, cell phones, Wii controllers, and even our sneakers. They all are measuring motion to enhance their functionality. Thanks to the Micro Electro Mechanical Systems Technology. Many universities and high tech industries have already focused on furthering researches & development in MEMS. This course aims to introduce students the MEMS Technology by engaging them in motion sensing projects.

This course will be broken down into 3 phases: Phase I:

o Learn the programming language – RobotC o Master the semantics. o Learn Basic Motion Navigation with simple sensor

Phase II: o explore the micro electro-mechanical System (MEMS) technology. o Learn remote controlling with Bluetooth communication. o Program your own motion sensing controller with NXT

Phase III: o Conducts more complex projects, such as programming to sync a bot’s fingers with your own. o Create a steering wheel mechanism device which can remotely drive a robocar.

A60 – JAVA I AND II – 3 PHASES GRADE 8+

These courses introduce students to the concept of object-oriented programming. Topics include basic and advanced features of Java as well as object-oriented design, such as class and abstract class, interface, inheritance, encapsulation, overloading and overriding, exception handling, etc. More detailed scope online. These two courses will be a great preparation for the students who intend to take Advanced Placement Computer Science class in the future.

A01 - PRE-ROBOTICS ELEMENTARY LEVEL - 3 PHASES GRADE 2 - 3

Prerequisi t e : High proficiency in 3rd Grade Math and Reading.

Students explore simple machines with concept of motorization. This workshop fosters a strong understanding of mechanical advantage from various simple machines. They will also explore the rudimentary level of structural programming required in automation. Classes are filled with hands-on experiments and worksheet. This will prepare them for future robotics programs.

A10 - ROBOTICS ELEMENTARY- INTERMEDIATE LEVEL - 3 PHASES GRADE 4 - 6

Pr e r equ i s i t e : Highly proficient in 5th Grade Math and Reading.

This course utilizes proven courseware developed by a PHD scholar graduated from MIT, and enhanced by the Robotics Mindstorms Technology expert from Storming Robots. All classes are packed with projects aimed to deliver the conceptual level of physics. Students are engaged in the process of visualizing algorithms in various open-ended projects.

A20 - ROBOTICS INTERMEDIATE LEVEL - 3 PHASES GRADE 4 - 6

Pr e r equ i s i t e : Highly proficient in 5th Grade Math and Reading. Understanding ratio and proportion.

This course utilizes curriculum developed by the Robotics Academy of the Carnegie Mellon University, and enhanced by the Robotics Mindstorms Technology expert from Storming Robots. Your young researchers will be immersed in the hands-on science/robotics experiments. Projects are filled with real science facts, and investigations. Continuous open-ended design challenges are conducted with true engineering process in order to strengthen problem-solving, intricate analysis, and teamwork.
