Message from the President

Dear Colleagues,

It is an indeed a great honor and matter of privilege to welcome you all to

second Annual Conference of Urological Association of Uttar Pradesh. All

of us were greatly benefitted by the academic and technical feast at

Meerut and this time, with participation of internationally acclaimed

colleagues, we are set out to touch greater heights. The entire organizing

team under the stewardship of Prof. Aneesh Srivastava and Dr. A. K.

Sawal has put in commendable efforts to organize the entire event.

I invite all our members and even outside guests to be a part of scientific

deliberations and benefit from the deep and vibrant exchange.

Message from the Secretary

Dear Friends,

Our UAU organization started from a small group of U.P. & Uttrakhand

urologists has now grown to 130 strong members. In last one year we

have made our society registered and our constitution made. We have

organized a great annual conference in Meerut along with two satellite

meetings in Varanasi & Ghaziabad. The 2nd year is full of academic

activities. SGPGI Lucknow is ready to hold our two and half day 2nd

annual conference with workshop in Endourology from 3rd to 5th April.

The workshops in Gaziabad, BHU, Varanasi and meeting in Paediatric Urology in SGPGI

Lucknow are also in our calendar along with SGPGI Endourology meet in December. This

gives all of us great opportunity to learn and interact actively within our region. Please come

with full zeal in all these academic activities and make our bond stronger than ever.

I also plea to all members to work further to increase UAU membership in their region

Long live UAU.

General Body Meeting 2014

UAUCON 2015 will be held from 3rd

to 5thApril 2015 in Lucknow. During this conference the

General body meeting will take place at 6.00 pm on 4th April 2015 in the main hall. All members

are requested to attend.

UAU Elections

Nominations are invited for the following Posts:

Nominations are invited in the prescribed forms that can be downloaded from the UAU

website. Completed Nomination forms should be submitted before 15th February 2014 to

the President-Elect, Dr. Anil Elehence who is also the Returning Officer for the UAU

Elections.

SUNG LASER WORKSHOP

Date – 18th May 2014.

Venue – Columbia Asia Hospital, Ghaziabad / Radisson Blu Hotel, Ghaziabad

Attendance – 70 Delegates attended the workshop from all over the country

Surgeries – LASER surgeries were performed by eminent faculty from across the country. Use of

Lasers in urology was demonstrated for the management of Prostate (BPH), Renal stone disease

(RIRS, MINI-PCNL)

UAUCON 2014 Report

UAU, a registered body of Urologists who are members of USI and based in Uttar Pradesh

and Uttarakhand had its first annual meeting at Meerut on 5-6th April 2014.

The meeting was hosted by Meerut Urological Association under the stewardship of Dr Anil

Elhence and Dr Subhash Yadav. The in house Inaugural Conference held at Hotel Godwin

was at par with standards of any national conference with 153 delegates.

The two day conference had a packed scientific program featuring a Video Workshop on

Bipolar Resection and Prostatic Enuleation by both Holmium and Thullium lasers; Dr MS

Ansari conducted an Instructional Course on Paediatric UTI; Dr Diwakar Dalela had a 3 hour

Masterclass on Trans Urethral Resection which was the highlight of the conference; Dr

Aneesh Srivastava gave a talk on lessons learn’t over two decades in Renal transplantation;

Prof Mahendra Bhandari inspired the audience from Detroit - If not "Let go", "Let it Be"; Dr.

Sanjay Goel conducted a session on Intra Operative Complications during PNL, URS,

Laproscopy; Dr Sameer Trivedi mentored a session on ”Rising PSA”; Dr SN Sankhwar

organized a Quiz.

There were 12 podium and 9 poster presentations. Dr KM Singh and Dr Harish Chandra were

conferred Life Time Achievement Award for contribution to Urology in Uttar Pradesh.

Participation from the Industry and the social event were appreciated by all.

UAU Office during the Annual Conference at Lucknow

All delegates attending the Annual Conference at Lucknow are kindly requested to

report to the UAU office as soon as possible after their registration process. Please

also submit a photocopy of your MCh. Certificate if you have not already done so. You

are also requested to re-verify your membership numbers and addresses so that the

same can be updated in the records as well as in the Membership Directory. The office

shall remain open throughout the conference.

Website www.uauonline.in UAU website is in the process of being revamped and made more functional & appealing. All

members, institutions may forward their URL identity & emails immediately to the central office

at office.uau@gmail.com so that data may be updated.

Members’ Username & Password All members (Full/Life and Associate) are eligible to obtain their Username and Password to

access their profile on the UAU website (www.uauonline.in). Since this is the only Address

Database used by all the Officials of the Society (Secretary, Treasurer, President Elect), it is in

your interest to ensure that your address and email address are accurate. All members are

requested to obtain the same by writing to central office at office.uau@gmail.com. Details on

how to access your personal profile will be mentioned in the letter sent along with the

username and password. In case of any difficulty please contact the office at the email

address mentioned above.

This is an appeal to all members to provide their email id to the Webmaster so that the

communications between the Society and the Members will be easy and paperless. You will

also benefit by being sent Email Alerts about various activities of and news about the Society

The President Elect Dr Anil Elhence in the absence of the President Dr D Dalela welcomed the

members present in the meeting and the meeting was called to order. He also complimented Dr

Anil Jain to be so considerate and readily agree for the shift of venue of UAUCON 2015 from

Kanpur to Lucknow.

2014/November/EC/01 - Minutes of annual EC meetings (April 2014)

The council discussed and approved the minutes of the last annual EC Meeting held at Hotel

Godwin in Meerut on 3 April 2014. The President Elect & Secretary signed the minute book to

confirm the same. The minutes were distributed to all the EC and members present. The

members approved the same.

2014/November/EC/02 - Secretary’s Report

The secretary informed the house about the activities taken up during the April to November

period. He presented his report and informed the house that the website had been made and

account had been opened. He also briefed about the various conferences held during this period

in the banner of UAU. He also briefed about the upcoming UAUCON 2015. The conference will

be theme based and early bird registrations will be made during NZUSICON 2014 with a

discount of Rs 500/- in all categories. The dates of the conference will be 2rd to 5th April 2015.

The next conference UAUCON 2016 will be in Kanpur and UAUCON 2017 in Bareilly. He also

mentioned the forthcoming conferences and workshops to be held under the aegis of UAU. One

was Pediatric Urology by Dr M S Ansari and the council could not reach on a consensus on the

other being done by Dr Mandhani. The mid term CUE was decided to be held in July 2015. He

expressed his gratitude to all the members and office bearers for their co-operation and sought

direction of all the members to take the society to newer heights in terms of intra society

management, its relationship with other societies in urology at national and international level for

academic pursuits and exchanges which was applauded by the members.

2014/November/EC/03 – Website www.uauonline.in

Dr M S Agrawal suggested that all the members should visit the website and e-newsletter should

be published every two months. Mr Navneet Arora suggested that the website will be updated in

such a way that members can by themselves update their address and other details which was

unanimously agreed. Dr M S Ansari proposed that people should also be able to register online

and pay online. It was also agreed upon to take up a online payment gateway for this purpose.

He also informed that some members had reported some problem in the abstract submission

process last year which has been resolved this year.

Resolved to get the updations done on the website accordingly

2014/November/EC/04 – Scientific Programme UAUCON 2015

Dr Anil Elhence put up proposal to set up the scientific programme in such a way that it starts

Friday by noon and ends on Sunday by noon. Dr M S Agrawal informed that since most of the

hotels checkin time is 12 noon it becomes easier to attend and an extra day is not wasted. Also

the conference can be continued till late evening. The same needed to be applied for the

exhibition and it could be opened up till late. Dr Elhence proposed that an official time could be

set up to visit the exhibition area. Dr Aneesh Srivastava proposed that since there was a

workshop proposed for UAUCON 2015 hence it needed to be started early. Dr M S Ansari and

Dr Aneesh Srivastava agreed to take the suggestions into consideration while setting up the

scientific programme with the help of the scientific committee.

2014/November/EC/05 – Setting up an award during future conferences

Dr Anil Elhence was requested to update on starting an award under the name of Meerut

Urological Association award, to be set up for a period of 5 years and a corpus of Rs 2 lakhs as

promised by him earlier. He promised to look into the same and revert after looking into the

accounts of UAUCON 2014 along with Dr Subhash Yadav.

2014/November/EC/06 – Generation of funds

Dr M S Agrawal proposed that in all the conferences the idea should be to use the money

collected during the conferences and not save money. The amount should be saved only for the

running expenses. Dr Elhence proposed that for the running expenses of the society should be

the onus of the organizers of the annual conference. Dr M S Agrawal suggested that a way to

increase your revenue is through e-newsletters which do not cost much and through

advertisements revenue can be generated. Dr Ansari suggested that website and digital directory

can be also a source of revenue. Also the council advised Dr A K Sanwal, Dr Anil Elhence and

Mr Navneet Arora to talk to some pharma company for meeting up the society yearly expenses.

2014/December/EC/07 - Treasurer’s Report – M S Ansari

Dr M S Ansari informed the members that the PAN application was put up again as there was

some problem notified by the department in the address and PAN is expected to be issued in a

weeks time. Only then the return will be filed for the past year.

Mr Navneet Arora was asked to submit the accounts uptill 31st March and deposit the cash of all

membership fee in the bank. His bills were produced before the council and they were all

approved.

Dr Ansari also informed that during and after the Meerut meeting 7 more members have joined in

and the total members list has gone upto 129. The council urged that initiative should be taken

up again and membership drive should happen in every city for making more members.

2014/November/EC/08 – Feedback of the members and industry attending UAUCON 2014

Dr Anil Elhence informed the council that delegates who participated in UAUCON 2014 were

very happy and so was the case with the industry and they are ready to support the society

generously.

Few healthy suggestions of UAUCON 2014 were passed on to UAUCON 2015 organizers for

consideration. He proposed to make taking feedbacks a routine affair and would distribute

feedback forms in all the registration kits at future UAUCONs, with the responses collected

through dropboxes available at UAU counter and other places of prominence in the conference

area. He also suggested that a prize be tagged for attracting best response / suggestions. The

council unanimously approved his proposal.

It was also decided that the mid-term council meeting shall be held in every NSUZICON. The

next meeting of the council shall be held in USICON 2015 at Ranchi. Membership drive should

be restarted again.

In absence of the President Dr Dalela who could not attend the meeting, President-Elect Dr A

Elhence acknowledged all the Council Members for their active participation, support and co-

operation. The Council also thanked the warm hospitality. The meeting ended on a positive note.

Call for Abstracts – UAUCON 2015

Scientific Programme committee invites abstracts for Best Video Prize, Best Podium Paper Prize, free poster and free oral presentation from all the members. Participants are advised to send in their abstracts not later than 28th February 2015. Abstract by authors not registered for the conference shall be rejected. The content of the abstracts in the format should be described under the headings of aims & objective, methodology, result and conclusion. The abstracts should be submitted online at: www.uauonline.in. The details will be coming up soon Scientific Programme Committee also invites all UAU members for interesting cases for clinicopathological presentation during UAUCON 2015 We also request members for suggestion for topics of debate to be conducted during the UAUCON 2015.
