ACC Registration for Sophomore Students
F.A.Q. • What does “Dual Credit” mean? - A student takes a College Level Class through ACC and earns credit at the
college level and at the high school level.
• Who is eligible to take an ACC Class? All 10th grade students are eligible (the summer after their sophomore year) provided they pass the testing component (see Step 3).
• How many classes can a student take? Students are eligible to take 12 classes through ACC starting the summer after
their sophomore year. They can take a maximum of 2 classes per semester.
• What classes are offered at GHS? See Slides 4-8. A total of 8 classes are offered on the GHS Campus (2-Fall
Junior year, 2-Spring Junior Year, 2-Fall Senior year and 2-Spring Senior year)
• What other Dual Credit classes can students take not at GHS? A complete list of Dual Credit Classes can be found in the Course Guide on pg 13-15 ACC Courses Students can take any of these classes at an ACC
Campus provided they have met ACC Prerequisites (See ACC Advisor for this info).
F.A.Q. • What is the cost?
Classes taken at GHS or EVHS are free. Classes taken on any ACC Campus are
assessed a $75 per course fee. Students are required to pay for textbooks and
supplies.
• How do I find out what credits transfer?
-Each college has different requirements. Parents and students need to check with the
colleges that they plan on attending to see if credits will transfer. You may use the ACC
University Transfer Guide as a resource as well: Transfer Guide
• How do I decide between ACC And AP?
-Please see the comparison of the two classes on pages 18 AP and ACC Credits
• How can I see my child’s grades?
-Due to FERPA, GHS and parents do not have access to student grades when enrolled in
post- secondary education. Only students have access to their records.
• Are grades from ACC weighted?
-Yes, HOWEVER ACC assigns letter grades (A, B, C), therefore the highest grade a
student can receive is a “A” which will appear on their transcript as a 95%
