    ASSOCIATION OF CHARTERED CERTIFIED

    ACCOUNTANTS

    The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) is one of the worlds leading internationalaccountancy bodies, operating in over 170 countries.Its recognition under UK legislation empowers it to regulate its members to undertake statutory audit andto conduct investment business. Todays profession is dynamic and accountancy skills are at the veryheart of business planning and Chartered Certified Accountants are key participants in management.

    Because of the flexibility of the qualification which consists of examinations, ethics and experience, thereis a wide range of opportunities available to ACCA members in the business world. They can move intogeneral management in the public and private sectors and may have opportunities to specialise in audit,taxation or information technology.

    The ACCA examinations consist of 14 papers. There are two exam diets, one in June and one inDecember. Exemption from certain papers will be given to students possessing a recognised degree orHNC/HND in Accounting.

    The Programme at Glasgow Caledonian Business School

    The programme commences in September and February each year with a view to sitting the ACCAexaminations either in December or June respectively.

    Entry Requirements and Exemptions

    Students with HNDs, HNCs or recognised degrees are given exemptions which vary according to thesubjects studied. Application must be made to ACCA to obtain confirmation of exemptions and to obtainregistration.

    New students must register with ACCA by 31st December or 15th August in respect of taking June or

    Closing dates for existing students to claim exemptions are 31st January or 31st July for the June andDecember exams respectively.

    Please note that, due to the work involved, we would recommend that students study for a maximum of

    two papers per trimester rather than three, although this is dependent on each students individualworkload and circumstances.

    Programme Fees 2011-12

    Fundamental level: 500 per paper (no VAT)Professional level: 550 per paper (no VAT)

    The fees per paper include: one day of revision (either Sat or Sun) mock exam and coursework

    These fees do not include required textbooks(s) which cost approximately 35 each. There will be anopportunity to purchase your textbook (s) on the first evening of classes when you will be guided tothe university bookshop during enrolment.

    Trimester Dates

    Trimester A: Week commencing 5 September 2011 Week commencing 21 November 2011

    Trimester B: Week commencing 20 February 2012 Week commencing 14 May 2012

    Duration: 12 weeks in Trimester A12 weeks in Trimester B (university closed for Easter week, i.e. 09.04.12 to 13.04.12)

    Programme Timetable

    The following courses run in both Trimester A and Trimester B to prepare for the December and June exams

    respectively. Trimester A and Trimester B run independently of each other such that there is a separatestudent intake for each Trimester and students can attend one or both as required. There is no Trimester Cintake.

    Students who attended classes in the previous Trimester and who wish to attend for the next Trimesterscourses should contact the Programme Administrator when they will be emailed a one page ContinuingStudent application form to complete and email back to the Programme Administrator.

    Although the timetable may be subject to change, it is the intention that the courses will run as follows:

    Please note that, where relevant, the paper taught will be the International Version except for F4 which is the ScottishVersion. Students taking F4 should buy the BPP English Version study text.

    Revision Courses

    There are Revision Courses for each of the papers listed above which have been incorporated into the coursefee for current students. Each Revision Course consists of one day and takes place near the end of the course,i.e. Saturday or Sunday, 9.00am 4pm, as revision before the exams in December 2011 or June 2012.
