About the ACCA Qualification About ACCA ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) is the largest, fastest growing international accountancy body in the World. In Ireland, ACCA has some 20,000 members and students. Holders of ACCA qualifications can be found working in a wide variety of disciplines, all aspects of business and in roles covering every level of finance - from accounts support to senior management.

An ACCA qualification is an excellent passport to a successful international business career.

The SyllabusFundamentals Level The Fundamentals level is essentially the entry route into the ACCA qualification. It is divided into two key sets of modules that you must complete in order to pass the Fundamentals level and move onto the Professional level.

4 Knowledge module4 Skills module

You can take papers within each module in any order but you must sit the modules in the order set out in the syllabus.

Professional LevelThe Ethics Module must be attempted before applying for membership. It can be completed once you are eligible to take P1. The Professional level is the final step towards the ACCA qualification and is pitched at an intellectual level equivalent to a Masters degree. It is divided into two key sets of modules that you must complete in order to pass the Professional level examinations.

4 Essentials module (you must pass all 3 exams)

4 Options module (you have a choice of 2 papers from 4 papers)

To earn your status as a Chartered Accountant you are required to complete the examinations and you must also complete a satisfactory record of your practical work experience.

Standard Entry requirements The minimum entry requirements for the ACCA qualification are: 4three Higher Level Leaving Certificate papers at grade C or above, which must include English or Maths OR 4two A Levels and three GCSEs or equivalent in five separate subjects, including English and Maths are required.

FIA EntryAlternatively you can enter the Professional Qualification after completing the Diploma in Accountancy and Business.

By completing the FAB, FMA and FFA exams and the Foundations in Professionalism module you will gain exemptions from Knowledge Level and you can then proceed with the subjects in the skills module (F4 to F9 inclusive).

Exemptions There are a range of exemptions available for the Fundamentals level of the ACCA qualification. Due to the diversity of these, we strongly advise you to visit www.accaglobal.com and use ACCA’s online exemption system to check your individual circumstances.

Set out below are some of the main rules:1. Non relevant degree holders do not qualify for any exemptions. 2. Business and/or accounting certificate, diploma or degree holders from recognised institutions will be able to claim exemptions from some subjects in the Knowledge and Skills modules up to a maximum of nine papers. The exemptions granted will depend upon your previous course content.3. There are no exemptions available for any Professional Level papers.4. Student registration fees (and if applicable exemption fees) are payable directly to the ACCA. Payments due to ACCA (registration fees, examination fees etc) are not included in your course fee.
