63% Canadian consumers use cash at least weekly – down from 68% last year
49% Aware of technology to pay with phone — up from 40% last year
57% Use debit and credit cards for payments in merchant locations – a 1% drop from last year
18% Use PayPal – an 8% increase from last year
Consumers expressed optimism about mobile wallet adoption in the future, expecting:
+8 PERCENTAGE POINTS Mobile wallet by card networks (12% in 2016 to 20% in 2020) and tech giants (7% in 2016 to
15% in 2020)
