The AMNT’s achievementsOur membership represents over 300 pension schemes, with assets under management of over £350 billion. We have become a persuasive voice for trustees and are listened to by Government, The Pensions Regulator, the Pensions Industry and the industry’s media.

We are currently developing our Red Line Voting initiative to enable more pension schemes – including small schemes and those that invest in pooled funds – to direct how the votes associated with the companies they invest in are cast. The Red Lines will cover the full ESG (environmental, social and governance) remit.

Red Line Voting is the brainchild of our AMNT Co-Chair Janice Turner. Having received the assistance of the UK Sustainable Investment in Finance Association on the project, in March 2015 AMNT won the support of the government for Red Line Voting. We are regularly asked by government and regulatory bodies to participate in working groups and consultation groups. Some of our committee are members of the Department for Work and Pensions Trustee Panel and the Financial Reporting Council’s Actuarial Stakeholder Group.

We regularly respond to official consultations giving a Trustee view: recently the AMNT response was quoted in the Law Commission’s Report on Fiduciary Duty.

300+schemes

The AMNT provides support, guidance and a collective voice to member nominated trustees, directors and representatives of private and public pension schemes. Together, the AMNT enables you to make a greater and more active contribution to scheme governance.

The Association is free to join and in return you will benefit from access to exclusive resources, events, training materials and the opportunity to network with like-minded members, who understand and share your unique perspective on the pension’s landscape.

Established in 2010, the AMNT is a not-for-profit organisation and aspires to be not only a positive force, but also a prominent voice in the UK pensions industry today.

EventsWith a whole schedule of pension related meetings, conferences and training days, becoming a member will open up a broad horizon of networking opportunities. Be sure to check out our Calendar of Events at www.amnt.org/events.

Trustee TrainingTraining is key to the development of a member nominated trustee. The Pension Regulator’s code of practice, requires you to have an appropriate level of knowledge and understanding of pensions and trust law, even though it often changes and evolves. The Pension Regulator’s Trustee Toolkit is a free training resource that can be accessed online.

We actively advise members regarding training and qualifications, often run collective training sessions on the Toolkit and have arranged further training for members prior to sitting the PMI certificate in trusteeship.
