New Vitra Accessories
There's no place like home – the only place where we can truly be ourselves. Our interiors reflect our personality: every object has its own story and is an expression of our individual identity. At Vitra, we believe in the principle of collage – the idea that a vibrant living space is not achieved by conforming to a unified plan, but rather gains character through a mix of old and new, classic and contemporary, favourite mementos and found objects.
The Vitra Accessories Collection embodies this conviction. It ranges from timeless creations by Charles and Ray Eames, Alexander Girard or George Nelson to the newest products by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, Hella Jongerius or Stockholm based design studio Front.
Spring/Summer 2019 Girard Collection. Products available for a limited time only.

International Love Heart
Girard Collection
The symbol of love is a well-known motif in the design oeuvre of Alexander Girard: he created myriad variations of the heart shape in his graphic works and textile patterns. The ‘Interna-tional Love Heart’ motif is a quintessential representation of
who he was, both as a designer and as a person.
Created in 1961 for the Textiles & Objects shop in New York City, this design speaks to Girard’s passion for typography,
graphics, language – and above all, the universal sentiment of love. He constantly wove messages of peace, love and un-
derstanding into his work without ever succumbing to kitsch or sentimentality, and the International Love Heart is a perfect
example. Comprising the word ‘love’ in many languages, this unique heart-shaped design also bears witness to Girard’s
lifelong fascination with global dialects.
Girard Collection
For the very fi rst time, Vitra has selected several products to create a special seasonal assortment for a limited period: the
Spring/Summer 2019 Girard Collection encompasses versions of existing or new accessories with coordinated designs, a number
of which will feature the new International Love Heart motif.
For the Spring/Summer 2019 Girard Collection, Vitra has put to-gether a number of accessories by Alexander Girard in shades
of black and white. Thanks to their perfectly coordinated designs and neutral palette, the objects can be combined with a wide range of diff erent colours, shapes and materials. This
versatility makes them ideally suited as understated companions for the bright and colourful spring season.

Designer
The architect and designer Alexander Girard was one of the leading fi gures in American design during the postwar era. His passion for colours, patterns and textures found expression in the fi eld of textile design, which was a focal
part of his oeuvre.

Thanks to their six-sided shape, the compact, all-purpose Hexagonal Containers can be arranged in decorative
combinations. The weight of the sturdy ceramic material provides good stability, while its fi ne, cool surface has a strong tactile appeal. The Hexagonal Containers come in sets of three, with coordinated colours and staggered
heights in a ratio of 1/3, 2/3 and 3/3.
Designer
Jasper Morrison
Known for thinking outside the box, Jasper Morrison is one of the most successful industrial designers of the
past few decades. Together with his colleague Naoto Fukasawa, he defi ned the term ‘super normal’, which in his opinion answers the question of what ‘good design’ should really be. In his work, he strives to create good
examples of understated, useful and responsible design. Morrison has developed several projects in collaboration
with Vitra, including the All Plastic Chair, the Soft Modular Sofa and the HAL chair family. His designs are represented in New York’s Museum of Modern Art and other prominent museum collections around the world.
