Dear HLN member:
I often get asked how
conservatives can make
inroads into the Hispanic
community and my simple
answer is HLN; and I don't mean Headline News,
I mean the Hispanic Leadership Network.
The Hispanic Leadership Network stands at
the forefront of what it means to be both a
Hispanic and a conservative. Our advisory
board is comprised of some of the most
successful Hispanic conservatives.
When we look back and realize how far
Hispanics have come, especially in the conser-
vative movement, we can only look at the
future with increasing hope.
Why am I so optimistic? Because of who we are
as Hispanics.
We care about the most important issues of
today, including the economy, education,
immigration and health care. We care about
restoring the American Dream.
HLN has already played an important role by
speaking on behalf of the Hispanic community
to policy makers at the national level and at
the same time taken the conservative message
to the Hispanic community. That bridge will
only continue to grow.
I know the path is not easy. Yet, we know that
when we succeed, our entire community will
succeed. We are driven by a purpose much
larger than anyone's individual goal.
Hispanics will continue to contribute the
wealth of their individual talents. We will
give a fitting tribute to those who have
come before us in making this great nation
of immigrants a much better place for the
generations to come.
I want you to join me in taking our conservative
message to your family members, your work
place and your community.
I also hope you will be able to join us in April
18-19 in Florida as we celebrate our annual HLN
conference.
See you in Florida!

ACCIONES RECIENTESDo's & Don'ts Memo: In January of 2013, HLN sent Members of Congress a memo of
suggested “Do’s and Don’ts” to help guide them when addressing immigration reform. We asked these
elected officials, regardless of their position, to consider our messaging points as the debate
regarding immigration reform picks up speed. The reception was overwhelmingly positive. Tone and
rhetoric matter during this debate and a few choice words can make a difference.
Post-Election Survey: Resurgent Republic and the Hispanic Leadership Network released
a post-election survey of Hispanic voters in four key battleground states: Florida, Colorado, Nevada
and New Mexico. The survey results and in-depth analysis covered the 2012 elections outcome,
perceptions of both political parties and public opinion on issues such as immigration reform, the
economy, education, and many more including the pathway forward for conservatives with the
Hispanic community. The survey highlighted the challenges and opportunities that conservatives
face in advancing their public policy agenda in the Hispanic community.
Tampa, Florida: Members of HLN’s Florida grassroots team were present at the Conga Caliente
festival in Tampa, Florida on November 4. HLN’s members were on site to celebrate the Hispanic
Arts and cultures, while also educating attendees about important policy issues and the importance
of exercising their civic duty to make their voices heard. They were able to engage with the festival’s
40,000 attendees and recruited more advocates into HLN’s expanding network.
Denver, Colorado: HLN co-hosted a Presidential Debate Watch Party in Denver, Colorado
on October 3. More than 200 advocates attended the event, which featured a pre-debate panel
discussion of issues important to the Hispanic community. The panel consisted of HLN’s Executive
Director, Jennifer S. Korn; the Executive Director of The LIBRE Initiative, Daniel Garza; and Victoria
Aguilar, Founder and Managing Partner of the AR Group. Maria Rozman, News Director at Telemundo
Denver, moderated the discussion. Both Executive Directors discussed the need for a real economic
recovery and job creation. The panelists also highlighted items that they hoped would be covered
during the debate. Ms. Aguilar elaborated on the specific needs of business owners and job creators
in Colorado.
Nationwide: HLN partnered with Hispanicvote.com and Turbo Vote on National Voter Registration
Day, September 25, to register, educate and engage young voters in the democratic political process
of our country. Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Nevada, New Mexico, and Virginia were among
the target states of this partnership.
