Warm greetings to all of us.

I am as the Chairman of Stem Cell Research and Development Center, Universitas Airlangga, Surabaya,

Indonesia welcome and thank you to all participants attending the 2nd Surabaya International Symposium

“Stem Cell Regulatory and Downstream Stem Cell Products”, 6-7 September 2019 in Hotel Bumi Surabaya,

Genteng, Surabaya - Indonesia. As the second international symposium, this event will provide real

insights to improve understanding of medical application of stem cell, ethical and regulatory of Stem Cell

research also Stem Cell product downstream. The presence of many key players, experts, and leaders

from several countries attests to the importance of the issues that we are to discuss.

Stem cell research is one of the most fascinating areas of contemporary biology, but as with many

expanding fields of scientific inquiry, research on stem cells raises scientific questions as rapidly as it

generates new discoveries. Laboratory studies of stem cells enable scientists to learn about the cells,

essential properties and what makes them different from specialized cell types. Scientists are already

using stem cells in the laboratory to screen new drugs and to develop model systems to study treatment

in diseases and clinical application, giving a new discovery in biomedical sciences.

As the chairman of the Stem Cell Research and Development Center, I know that the success of this

conference depends on many people working in planning and organizing. In particular we are grateful to

the entire committee, the sponsors and all participants who have participated in order to make this event

came true.

Finally, I and all the organizing committee apologize if there are short comings in the implementation of

this event because we realize everyone can be mistaken. Let me reiterate my sincere hope that this

conference will result in success.

In order to improve science and technology

development in an increasingly advanced era.

Therefore, Stem Cell Research and Development

Center of Universitas Airlangga, adopted from the

Center for Higher Education Science and Technology

program (PUI PT) held an international symposium.

The growing need for extraordinary health services

also demands the development of medical science that

will serve as the basis for quality services from the

scientific, patient safety and medical people in it.

Formal education alone is still less able to offer a full

service. Therefore, short courses and symposium are

very useful in providing new knowledge to medical

person.

Surgery , Pharmacology and Psychotherapy

treatment has grown very rapidly, it is also necessary

think about the body cells regeneration. Currently

stem cells has been developing for variety of

treatments. This knowledge should be developed and

recognized by all medical people, in Indonesia in order

to answer the community's questions about the ability

of medical people in stem cell treatment.

The seminar was held to answer the challenge, with the

theme of “Basic Ethic, Regulatory and Downstream

Stem Cell Product”. This topic will be interesting

because the potential commercialization of stem cell

products is very large without any age and gender

limitations, so as to bring stem cell product

downstream to the public will require the entire

process starting from basic stem cell certified from

clearance conduct and obtain regulatory approval of

BPOM.

Symposium Purposes

1. Improve understanding of stem cell application

medicolegal and biomedical sciences.

2. Increasing participants' understanding of the

regulation of Stem Cell services in hospitals.

3. Increasing participants' understanding of the

regulation of research and Stem Cell services in

Indonesia.

4. Increase research publications in the field of scopus

indexed stem cells.

1. Oral Presentation

Oral presentations are simultaneous, themed sessions included throughout the program, with seven to eight

presentations per session. Each presenter is allocated 10 minutes for presentation followed by 5 minutes for questions. A Chairperson will coordinate the session.

Abstract Submission:

• Abstract Title

• Abstract Authors (up to 6 authors may be listed) • Abstract Presenter (a maximum of 1 presenter is permitted and should be the person submitting the abstract) • Abstract Structure – Introduction (include aim/purpose); Methods; Summary of results & Discussion;

Conclusions; key word maximal 4

• Word Count 250- 300 (Extended Abstract 5 – 8 pages with structure headings are included in the word count)

• Select 1 key topic

• You will be given the option to select that your abstract but still in terms of Stem cell and Biomedical Sciences • You should be prepared to present at any time between 13:00 pm to 16;45 pm on Saturday, 1st August 2019.

Deadline for submissions: The deadline for submissions is April 2019, we regret after this date we are unable to accept

any further submissions. Decisions will be announced by 10th

July 2019.

2. Poster Presentation

Posters will be grouped together in themed sessions for presentation. Approximately 14 presenters for each theme will be asked to give a 4 minutes presentation to introduce key messages of their poster, followed by a 2 minute

questions and discussion. Each session will have a Chairperson.
