Acellus – the Science of Learning
The Acellus Learning System
Acellus allows students to work at their own pace through a given course of instruction. Each
Acellus lesson teaches one concept delivered through a short video. Practice problems are
then given. Using Deficiency Diagnostics (DD), Acellus evaluates student responses and
customizes to the need of each student. Unit Reviews and Exams provide further learning and
assessment. Teachers can generate Student Performance Reports at any time so they can
monitor the progress and success of each student.
The human mind is an amazing thing – no two are alike. This makes the
task of teaching such a dynamic range of developing minds quite a
difficult undertaking.
In order to create educational material that will cater itself to
students of all ages, backgrounds, and mental composition, Acellus
has turned to science for the answers.
Acellus starts with the best teachers and teaching standards known today
to create courses that are engaging and effective – but it doesn't stop there.
Using the latest advancements in technoloy, feedback is automatically collected and organized
on each lesson and problem. Educational Professionals and scientists evaluate this data.
Trends are recognized, and new course material is created for areas where students are having
difficultly – explaining a concept in more depth or teaching it in a different way. These course
enhancements are uploaded daily, making them available to Acellus students around the world.
Customized, Self-Paced Learning – One Concept at a Time

A Quantum Leap in Effective Education
Acellus Labs is excited to announce the release of Acellus 5 – a cutting-edge technology, designed to redefine the world of digital learning.
Features include:
Acellus 5 NewRelease
®Increased platform support – Acellus 5 supports the Windows Operating System (XP or higher), ® ® ®Mac OS X (10.3.9 or higher), and the Apple iPad . Acellus runs on the latest version of most major
browsers, and requires no plug-ins.
New Course Content – Comprehensive curriculum is now available for Language Arts, Social Studies, Science and Mathematics. Over 50 courses in all core content areas are being made available for grades K-12. (See back for courseware listing.)
New Student and Teacher Interfaces – The all new Student and Teacher interfaces make organizing and managing the learning process an enjoyable experience for teachers and students alike.
Technology at its Best – Acellus 5 uses the newest standards in Web Applications and Video Streaming to deliver the ultimate learning experience – at school or at home.
Universally Internet Accessible – Whether students sign in at school, at home, or anywhere Internet is available, Acellus picks up right where they left off.
“We implemented Acellus as part of a comprehensive credit recovery plan to assist students who lacked the required credits to graduate. By including Acellus in our Alternative program, we helped many students graduate that otherwise would have dropped out.”
– Dr. Michael Kuchar, Superintendent, Bergenfield Public Schools, NJ
“We use Acellus as the core math curriculum for grades 6-12. Our teachers are no longer solely responsible for lecturing, assisting, testing, and grading. They can now work one-on-one with students while Acellus provides quality lectures and exams, and automatically handles time-consuming grading and reporting. Technology is here to stay. Acellus is changing the way teachers teach, and the way students learn. Our students are responsible for their learning and as a result are better prepared for the future.”
– Steve Shiever, Superintendent, Crescent Public Schools, OK
"Acellus has changed not only the attitude of my students toward math but their understanding and achievement as well. I had a student who simply refused to do math using our previous online math curriculum provider. She was reluctant to attempt math with Acellus as well due to her past difficulties. However, this student found her niche in math with the Acellus program. Her confidence and enjoyment in math are off the chart, and she has completed 3 math credits in just over 1 semester.”
– Rich Taedter, Principal – COOP High School, Rawlins, WY
“The greatest strength of Acellus is naturally differentiated instruction and student self-paced advancement. As students move through the program they are able to grasp the concepts they need on an individual basis. Our teacher has done a fine instructional job for us, and with Acellus, his time is greatly leveraged. He is able to concentrate on answering relevant questions asked by the students as they are working in Acellus. We are so impressed with the results that Acellus has become our mathematics curriculum in grades 5-11.”
- John LaFave, Superintendent, Healy Public Schools, KS
“This has been an outstanding program to implement in the middle level. Acellus makes it much easier to identify individual skill set weaknesses and focus on them, so that students will leave the middle level with a much more solid foundation and experience much more success at the high school level.”
– Mark Cosgrove, Asst. Principal, Park Ridge School District, NJ
"The Acellus system has great potential for delivering mathematics instruction. We use it for supplemental instruction, intervention, and ultimately, credit recovery. Acellus is a very powerful tool for facilitating teaching and learning."
– Winifred Deavens, Director of Curriculum – Jennings School Dist., MO
"Acellus has opened up a new way to engage our students in the learning process. Last June, twenty-eight students who had never passed Algebra I used the Acellus program during summer school. Twenty-seven passed the course, but more impressive was the fact that ten weeks later, eighteen of those students passed the math portion of Indiana's graduation high-stakes test!"
– Jeff Gangloff, Director of Curriculum/Instruction
North Judson-San Pierre Schools, IN
Acellus Works
Schools and learning centers around the
world are adopting the Acellus Learning
System to help them achieve their
academic goals. Acellus is now being
used to teach students across America,
with major deployments in every state of
the United States.
Uses for Acellus include: mainstream
instruction, parallel and supplemental
instruction, remediation, and credit
recovery. Acellus’ ability to customize to
each student’s level and pace makes it
ideal for challenged as well as gifted
students.
Acellus is being used in Alternative
Schools, Summer School for GED and
Adult Programs, and is allowing schools to
offer a wider range of AP courses for their
students, better preparing them for
college.
Using the Spanish version of Acellus
courses, concepts can be taught to ESL
students in their native language to
accelerate the learning process. English
terminology is incorporated to help
transition these students into mainstream
classes.
Acellus Deployment

Acellus delivers short video lessons taught by our Nations greatest teachers. Practice problems are then given to assess understanding of the concept taught. Students move through the lessons at their own pace. Using Deficiency Diagnostics (DD), Acellus assesses areas of student weakness and gives more help and practice in these areas – further customizing the learning process and filling in holes in students’ understanding for a strong learning foundation.
How Acellus Works
Problems – After the short video lesson, problems are presented to assess understanding of the concept presented.
A Flexible Teaching Tool – Students may take Acellus Courses on a wide range of subjects and academic levels. Language Arts, Reading, Mathematics, and the Sciences are just a few of the subjects being taught with Acellus.
Customized Personal Instruction (CPI) – “Oops, I thought you might make that mistake. Let me show you what you didn’t understand.” Wrong answers are analyzed and new content is created for specific mistakes commonly made by students. These “mini” lessons pop-up as soon as a student enters that specific wrong answer, helping the student understand the missed concept.

The Acellus Student InterfaceStudents are able to access Acellus courses through the intuitive Acellus Student Interface. After students log into Acellus, they are able to select from their list of classes. Acellus takes them right to their current position in the course they have been enrolled in, and automatically marks their attendance for the class. Other features of the Acellus Student Interface allow students to quickly view their progress, grade, attendance, school calendar, and daily homework assignments. Acellus has its own built in messaging system which allows a student to ask and receive answerers to their questions.
Progress – The Acellus Progress tool acts as a student motivator. By allowing students to see their progress on their teacher-assigned goals for the week, students are able to see what topics will be covered in their Acellus class for the day, as well as their overall progress through the course.
Messaging – Students and teachers can interact with each other, whether at home or at school, via the Acellus Messaging system.
Calendar – School Events are posted on the Acellus Calendar and available to all of the teachers and students over the Internet. With the click of a button, students receive the most up-to-date list of school events for the month.
5
Homework – No more losing homework assignments – students can view all of their homework for the week as well as their status and scores.
The Acellus Teacher Interface
The Acellus Teacher Interface gives teachers the ability to track progress, identify problems, and provide real-time assistance. With the Acellus data available securely over the Internet, teachers can view their reports, update classes, and monitor students – from the classroom, or their home.

Gradebook – Keeping grades is a blast with the Acellus Gradebook. As students work through their individual Acellus Courses, their grades are updated to teacher-controlled assignments. Whether your school provides daily, weekly, or monthly grades – the Acellus Gradebook can handle it. Teachers can also input their own assignment grades and adjust the weighting curve.
6
Attendance –Attendance is kept automatically. When a student begins their work, Acellus checks the clock and marks them Present or Tardy.
Classes – The Acellus Classes tool allows teachers to see an overview of the progress and grades of the students taking their Acellus Class. They can see which students are making extra progress, which students are falling behind, as well as each student's current grade and the topic they are working on.
