ABOUT ACHIEVE AUSTRALIA

As a not-for-profit community organisation, Achieve Australia (Achieve) has provided services and supports with integrity, commitment and passion since 1952 for people with disability to achieve a life that is meaningful and valued.

We do this by facilitating the learning and maintenance of life and work skills, the development of relationships, the ability to make life choices and participation in community activities.

Achieve has always been a vocal advocate of the NDIS and we believe that it is one of the most important pieces of healthcare legislation in the nations’ history.

In 2014, Achieve became a registered provider for the NDIS.

This enables us to deliver NDIS service to any person with a disability.

The NDIS is an exciting time for all people with a disability. It will ensure that you have ongoing support for life.

Through our offices including Charlestown in the Hunter Region and Casino we will continue to champion inclusion, choice and control for people with disability by providing opportunities in home, life, career and wellbeing.

All our services are integrated with a strong and focussed person centred approach, to ensure that individual needs are listened to, understood and matched.

Achieve Australia supports more than 150 people to live independently in their homes.

To assist you to exercise your choice and control over your home, Achieve’s living and support services, ‘My Home’, offers you with a range of options to best suit your goals and needs.

By listening to you about what is important to you and your family, we will be able to tailor your individual support service to suit your circumstances including where you want to live and who you may want to live with?

The most important thing for us at Achieve is to make sure you are at the centre of any decision making about your life.

The committed and dedicated team will provide the support you need to have the highest level of independence you can in your home and life.

To live a life that you want, Achieve will help you source accommodation of your choice, assist you with your support needs, link you to services in the community and support you to access specialist services when needed.

NDIS READINESS

The NDIS is an exciting new journey for all people with a disability. It will ensure that you have ongoing support for all of your life. And the best news, you get to make the decisions about what you want, what works for you and how it will happen.

Achieve will help you get NDIS ready. We will help you with queries you may have regarding your NDIS plan.

Every person who is supported by Achieve is assisted in a way that best suits you.

To assist you to live the life of your choice, Achieve’s ‘My Life’ service offers you with a range of options to best suit your goals and wants and desires.


Based on your talents, hobbies, interests and social connections that you wish to be part of, Achieve will work and explore with you a range of activities and supports you may want, to help you achieve more daily.

Activities may include but not limited to:

Learning new skills: literacy and numeracy, travel training, computing, cooking, independent living.

Being out and about in the community: swimming, sailing, camping, photography, music, art and drama.

Exploring work options: volunteering, work experience, Achieve will help you engage in activities of your choice, create opportunities and find solutions to turn your dreams and ambitions into reality so you can live a life that you want.

We believe in creating opportunities for people to succeed and feel fulfilled through having a satisfying career.

We have assisted people to identify the career paths that they may want, and provided work experience opportunities for people transitioning into work.

Some of the industries we have worked successfully are hospitality, packaging, media, FMCG and retail.

We also offer employment options with Achieve’s Commercial Enterprise and Social Enterprise.

We can also offer assistance to help you start up your own business.

An individual’s wellbeing is constantly changing; physical, emotional and financial. A person’s wellbeing is enhanced when they lead healthy lifestyles, have a strong sense of belonging and connectedness to their community and also have the ability to contribute to these communities.

To be able to help you live a quality life, Achieve’s ‘My Wellbeing’ service focusses on providing holistic lifestyle support for the critical aspects of your life; physical, emotional and financial wellbeing. We make sure you are at the centre of any decision making about your life.

Achieve’s ‘My wellbeing’ service is a contemporary and forward-focussed one to help people live the life they want to live.

We will work and explore with you a range of supports to help you achieve just that.

You will be assisted by our dedicated and qualified team of practitioners.

The team will regularly be in touch with you to help you monitor and manage your ongoing wellbeing.
