Wow! I feel the last 10 weeks have probably been the fastest 10 weeks for me, since commencing at Dudley Park back in 2016. Time flies when you’re having fun – so the saying goes! So, Term 1 2019 has seen: A number of fabulous class assemblies. I have been super impressed with every class who has hosted an assembly this year already! Our student’s public speaking skills has been a real highlight, making me incredibly proud. Thank you all staff who have been involved in an assembly. It has been a little while, but I certainly remember the work that goes into organ- ising an assembly. Also a BIG congratulations to all students who have performed, spoken or contributed in some way to the smooth running of an assembly! Along the same lines as our fortnightly assembly, we have had two Prize Draws! This is definitely a high- light for me as I love seeing happy students winning awesome prizes and also getting the opportunity to serve and eat lunch with another group of very happy, grateful students. These special events would not be possible without all the hard work, following up, and incredible organisation of Ms Smith (Youth Engage- ment Officer, AIEO, Recreation Centre Controller, KindiLink Superwoman, just to name a few of her roles), so a huge thank you Ms Smith – you really are superwoman in disguise!! A two week Book Fair. This, as always, was a wonder- ful event that saw our great Library transformed each day into a shopping hotspot. This is one of my favourite events as I get to stock up a little on my stationery items. Those who know me well, (or have ever stepped foot in my office) understand how im- portant this is to me!! The Book Fair would not be possible if it wasn’t for a lot of hard work by Mrs Searle, (Library Officer Extraordinaire), and her awesome group of helpers (you know who you are) – THANK YOU! A Harmony Day Colour Run. Yet another highlight of the term for me. Even though I got covered with “PURPLE” powder, (and most of you will know my feel- ings regarding the colour purple or anything associat- ed with it), I still had one of the best days ever! Even being targeted by some parents holding water pistols or really big hoses did not dampen my spirit. I thor- oughly enjoyed joining in with all the kids, particularly seeing their enjoyment. Thank you to all members of the P&C for organising and running this exceptional fundraising event for the second year. I think many students would love to see this as an annual event each year, however, I do appreciate how much time and effort goes into organising this event. I am sure it will be up for discussion at an up coming P&C meet- ing. We sent two small groups of student leaders to Par- liament House to enjoy lunch with either Mr Zac Kir- kup MP or Mr David Templeman MLA. I was fortunate enough to attend one of the lunches and, I must say, it was incredibly special. Another thank you to Ms Smith (just another one of her roles) for organising these two activities as well as driving the students on the bus to Perth and back Today we had our very special ANZAC Service. Once again, this was a very polished event with a number of special guests attending. Glee performed a number of songs, which brought me to tears nearly every time, and were performed absolutely beautifully. Many of those tears were tears of pride! Every time I see our students perform I am blown away by the talent we have amongst us here at Dudley Park. I would like to say a huge congratulations to all the members of Glee and also our Student Councillors who carried them- selves and spoke wonderfully at the Service and also ran the ‘back of house’ so well. This event would not have been possible without all the hard work, re- hearsals, and a lot of planning by Ms Smith and Mrs Smith. Thank you ladies, all your efforts are very much appreciated. So, whilst I only mentioned six events/highlights of the term above, there were many more….just too many to mention (like the Parent Survey that will be discussed in the next newsletter). Likewise, there are always too many people working incredibly hard to mention. So please do not be offended if you have contributed to some of the above events and was not mentioned, or have also worked very hard, and was not mentioned – all your time and effort was noticed and very much appreciated! This goes out to all staff, students, family members and community members – Thank you all for helping Dudley Park to be the best it can be! In closing, I would like to wish you all the very best for a wonderful holiday break. I hope you all enjoy a happy Easter with family and friends. I look forward to seeing you all return safe and happy on Monday, 29 April ready for Term 2. Warm regards, Christine Prandl

12th April 2019 Issue 3 Term 1

An Independent Public School

From the Principals Desk

As quickly as the term began…it comes to an end.

Wow! I feel the last 10 weeks have probably been the

fastest 10 weeks for me, since commencing at Dudley

Park back in 2016. Time flies when you’re having fun –

so the saying goes!

So, Term 1 2019 has seen:

A number of fabulous class assemblies. I have been

super impressed with every class who has hosted an

assembly this year already! Our student’s public

speaking skills has been a real highlight, making me

incredibly proud. Thank you all staff who have been

P & C

The P&C would like to thank everyone for their support this year with

the Run4Fun. It was a great day with lots of smiles and colour from all

who were involved.

We would like to thank everyone who came along and lent a hand on

the day. The parents who gave their time to volunteer helped tremen-

dously to make the day a success and we could not have achieved it

without your help. We would like to say a special thank you to Mike McGough (Pick family's Pop) for donating the water tanks, they

made a massive difference in helping the day flow smoothly, allowing

us to have more water stations.

We raised the fantastic amount of $5194.39.

Keep an eye on the Skoolbag app for information on prize arrival date.

Mothers Day falls on Sunday 12th May this year and the P&C stall

will be run in Week 2 of Term 2, please keep an eye out in your child's

bag during the coming weeks for Mother's Day information.

A note from the Community Health Nurse

Immunisation programs in our community are designed to keep

everyone well and safe, especially those people who are most

at risk, such as babies. Parents or legal guardians who make a

conscious informed decision not to immunise their child should

note the following:

In the case of a Measles or Pertussis (whooping cough)

outbreak, Western Australian schools are required by the

Department of Health, to exclude students who have not

received the appropriate vaccination.

Please make sure your school-aged child is fully immunised

and that you have provided a copy of the AIR immunisation

record to the school.

Did you know that as parents you can ring the National

registry or visit www.humanservices.gov.au to check out your

child’s immunisation status? All you need is your Medicare

number. Alternatively, phone 1800 653 809 or email

2019 EASTER RAFFLE The Easter raffle was a huge success this year with the year

the year 6’s get to their camp at the end of the year.

Altogether we raised $1123.50.
