INTRODUCTIONInstallationIf your computer has an activated auto-run function,
your computer will automatically install the game,
once you insert the original CD disc into your
CDROM/DVD-ROM drive.
If your computer does not have the above function,
please use Windows Explorer to view the CD’s contents
and then double click on the „Setup.exe“ icon shown in
the root directory.
Follow the on-screen prompts, the game will be
installed and will ask you if you wish to install the
latest version of DirectX. If you agree, the program
will only update your version of DirectX if it is
already on your computer.
Depending on your system, the computer may ask to
reboot in order to activate the game’s configuration.
MissionIn Korea: Forgotten Conflict you are commander of a
special force commando which executes special tasks
behind enemy lines. Mission objectives that are wait-
ing for you include actions in the most dangerous
areas in enemy territory.
Once put in action, there is no help or support avail-
able, only you are responsible for all decisions made.
Achieving mission objectives solely depends on your
tactics and how clever you are.
Prepare for investigation in secret enemy facilities,
rescuing important people or destroying and sabotaging
enemy military equipment. Your work should be kept secret
whenever possible, however there are situations where
heavy fighting is involved. Remember that if any of your
commando comrades die, then you fail! The enemy is heart-
less and will punish you for every little mistake.
Korea: Forgotten Conflict should be more than a
description of events that took place on the Korean
peninsula, we tried to develop a game that will satis-
fy gamers’ expectations and involve them in the Korean
War, one of the bloodiest wars in the past century.
All names of characters are fictitious and any simi-
larity is merely coincidental.
Dates, historical events and any items used in the
game are as close as possible to real events, however
they were modified for the game’s purpose. For accu-
rate information regarding the Korean War and all
related issues please refer to official sources of
information.
We have created Korea: Forgotten Conflict as a comput-
er game.
Qualifying Mission’s objectivesAt the beginning of each mission you will receive
basic instructions, including a brief description of
the mission’s objectives. Information you receive can
be described as:
Situation description and reason why your com-
mando is involved
 Mission’s objectives
Area observation with some important recommen-
dations by command center regarding tactics and
possible progress
All of the above can be aborted by pressing the 'ESC' key
and the mission will begin. While playing, you may remind
yourself of the mission’s objectives by pressing the
'TAB' key. For further information, please press the 'M'
key, showing the mission map and objective’s description.
Level of difficultyMission’s objectives remain the same, no matter what
level of difficulty you are playing. The distinction
between various levels of difficulty is in enemies’
behavior, inability to shoot for a longer distance,
54
number of tools and supplies available.
Set up level of difficulty will also influence the
number of save points available for a mission.
We recommend setting up a normal level of difficulty.
It allows using more save points, first aid equipment
and accurate long-distance shooting.
When using a higher level of difficulty, for killing
enemies, you must move closer to them in order to kill
them with one shot. You must remember that guns some-
times break down accidentally. Also, enemies react
much quicker than at lower levels of difficulty. There
is also a lack of medical supplies.
Korean WarBasic facts
One of the bloodiest conflicts in the last
century. About 4 million people died. Estimated
rates are 2 million Korean civilians and 1.5
million communist soldiers (North Korean and
Chinese), 400 000 South Korean soldiers and 35
thousand Americans and allied soldiers.
The Korean War started on June 25, 1950 in the
morning when North Korean troops invaded South
Korea. Ceasefire is dated on July 27, 1953
when the armistice was signed. This war has
never had a winner or looser, it ended where
it started, on the 38th parallel that divides
the peninsula into two parts. In fact, the bad
atmosphere still remains today.
North Korean and Chinese forces included about
2.5 million men, on the opposite side, under
the flag of the United Nations, about one mil-
lion soldiers were involved. These men came
from America, Australia, Britain, France,
Canada, the Netherlands, Norway, Luxembourg,
Columbia, Turkey, Ethiopia, South Africa,
Greece, the Philippines, and Thailand.
This game is dedicated to all the people who died in
this bloody war.
Game Set UpWhen starting the game, a dialogue window will allow
you to adjust some of the game parameters according to
your computer’s configuration for best game play.
Please remember that Game Set Up depends on your com-
puter’s configuration.

Video set upYou may set up the required resolution for the game.
The higher the resolution, the prettier it will look
but the slower it will run.
To set up frequency restoration, please compare with
your monitor’s capacity.
Please refer to your monitor’s data sheet.
76
Other adjustments influence graphic quality, however,
game speed depends on the computer’s configuration.
Please try to play the game and adjust all settings
according to your needs and the computer’s configura-
tion. Turning off ‘shadows’ will affect the game’s
speed.
If some adjustments cannot be set up, they do not con-
form to the computer’s configuration.
GAMEIn this section you will get information about basic
parts of Korea: Forgotten Conflict, such as game con-
trol, game tactics, characters who are members of the
commando.
The following information will help you choose the
right tactics and achieve the mission’s objectives.
So, please read carefully.
Observation of mission and game controlOnce you are in control, you can move the camera
freely above the whole mission area. This provides a
unique experience and allows you to gather information
that may be used later before giving orders.
Camera movementKorea: Forgotten Conflict provides you with a full 3D
environment, which means that steady camera movements
can be carried out in many directions.
To move camera
Horizontal movement: use cursor arrows
Vertical movement: use Page Up and Page Down keys.
However we recommend using the mouse for camera move-
ments, while pressing the middle button and moving the
mouse, the camera will move in the desired direction.
The mouse wheel is used for changing the vertical
position of the camera.
Thanks to free camera rotation, you can see the scene
from many angles.
Camera rotationIf you want to see what is happening around the cor-
ner, just turn around the scene to get a complete pic-
ture of the situation.
Holding the ‘SHIFT’ key and the left or right cursor
arrow will rotate the camera.
The same effect will be achieved when holding the
'SHIFT' key, pressing the middle mouse button
and moving the mouse left or right.
Camera zoomIn addition to the above mentioned camera movements
you can zoom the camera.
Pressing the '+' or '–' key can adjust the detail of
camera shot.
Lock-on and release cameraThis is another function. Click on the camera icon on
the control bar to activate the function, or press the
‘HOME’ key. Click or press again to release the camera.
The lock-on camera mode will follow the chosen object
but cannot be moved sideways. The zoom function is
still available.
98
Game interfaceThe game interface helps you control the game. You may
give orders to your commando comrades or allied sol-
diers later in the game.
All orders are given with a left mouse click on an
interface icon or by using key shortcuts.
This picture describes parts of the game interface.
CursorThe cursor in the shape of an arrow is the basic tool
that controls your commando members during the game.
The cursor is moved above the area and across the mis-
sion with the mouse. All orders are given either by
left or right mouse clicks.
In some cases, orders are given by a combination of
pressing keys and using the mouse.
The cursor reacts to surroundings and changes shape
according to its position above an object.
Enemy’s visibilityIf you click on the ‘show enemy’s visibility’ icon,
the cursor changes shape. Clicking on a selected enemy
will highlight the enemy’s line of vision and indicate
the center of his visibility.
11
Mission bordersIf you reach the mission border, the camera can no
longer move. Please turn back.
Searching for enemies and interactive itemsAs mentioned in the Camera section, the camera’s sta-
tus defines what you can see. Pressing the ‘O’ key
will highlight all enemies, allies or your commando
comrades in a particular area, regardless of their
position.
Pressing the ‘P’ key will highlight all interactive
items in the scene.
Highlighting all sol-
diers helps to get a
nice overview of the
whole situation.
These functions are very
useful strategic tools
that help identify sol-
diers and items that can
affect your progress.
Learn to plan your
action in advance and
you will make better
progress.
10
hint text will describe the place and remind you of
the mission’s objectives.
While you are looking at the map, the game is paused
and you can plan your progress without hassle.
Mission’s objectivesTo have a quick overview of the mission’s objectives,
press the ‘TAB’ key and you will see the present situ-
ation.
This information can influence your next actions and
progress.
HelpWhenever you need to know a key shortcut, press the
‘F1’ key. The game will pause and the screen will show
a help text dialogue.
The help text dialogue will disappear after again
pressing the ‘F1’ or ‘ESC’ key.
Weapons, items and tools in inventoryGame interface helps you control all available
weapons, tools and items. All characters can carry all
items, even if they cannot use them.
Items which the character cannot use are colored gray.
A left mouse click on the inventory icon next to a
character’s portrait will open the inventory showing
all currently carried objects.
The picture shows an
open inventory for two
of your characters.
For instance if you
want to use the pistol,
left mouse click on the
pistol icon in the
inventory, hold the
left mouse button and
drag the pistol to the
13
The enemy’s best visibility is in the direction of the
highlighted line. Please move your commando members as
far from the line as possible.
By clicking on other enemy soldiers, you can have an
overview of each soldier’s visibility and you know
what area is under their control.
A right mouse click will restore the cursor arrow.
To abort the highlighted enemy’s visibility, please
click repeatedly on the enemy soldier with the eye
cursor and the highlighted visibility will disappear.
MapPressing the “M” key will show you the mission’s photo
taken from an airplane provided by command center.
The photo not only shows the mission’s objectives but
also interesting places.
This is an interactive mission map where you will find
useful information about your objectives.
If you move the cursor above indicated locations, a
12
If you want to run behind an enemy guard, pay atten-
tion, he may hear you, and it might be better to crawl
in this situation.
Examining and manipulating itemsAs mentioned above, it is possible to highlight active
and usable items by clicking on an icon in the Game
interface or by pressing the ‘P’ key.
In general if you want to manipulate items, use a
right mouse click. Just right mouse click on any
active item, for instance if you want to search for
things on an enemy body, right mouse click on the
body.
In both examples, the character’s inventory opens as
well as the item you are examining and you may manipu-
late and move items.
The same method is used for searching, investigating,
using switches and opening doors, gates, turning off
electricity etc.
Behavior modeA mouse click on the icon under the character’s por-
trait can change the character’s behavior to either
aggressive or normal.
If the character is holding a gun or is standing by a
rifle or machine gun, he will start firing immediately
after spotting an enemy.
Aggressive behavior is suitable when the soldier’s
orders are to defend someone or something.
Health bar and caring for the woundedThe green column next to the character’s portrait
informs about the character’s health, it may happen
that during a mission the character is wounded and
needs medical treatment.
15
character’s hand, indicated in the bar next to the
character’s portrait. The same effect will be achieved
by a left mouse click on the pistol with the cursor.
If you want to move an item from one character’s
inventory or hand to another’s, please use the above
mentioned method.
A right mouse click anywhere on the screen will close
the inventory.
Changing positions: crawl, crouch, stand upA click on the position icon will order the character
to change positions.
Each icon represents one of the following positions,
stand up, crouch, and crawl.
Shortcut keys can be used as well, press the “C” key
to stand up, the “V” key to crouch and the “B” key to
crawl.
Crawling will allow your soldiers to stay hidden with-
out being noticed by enemy soldiers, it also influ-
ences their shooting accuracy. A soldier lying on the
ground has a better chance to aim at an enemy than a
standing soldier.
Do not forget that
icons in the inter-
face show you your
soldiers’ positions,
even if they have
just come into the
scene…
If a character is
standing, double
click with the mouse
on a destination and
the character will
run to that point. Running is the fastest way to move;
however it makes a lot of noise.
14
and moving the left mouse button may select characters
within a selected border.
Selecting allied soldiersAllied soldiers can be selected in following way:
Left mouse click with cursor on the soldier.
If you want to select more allied soldiers at
once, hold the ‘CTRL’ key and left mouse key,
allied soldiers within the border will be
selected and are under your command.
If you want to change the position of the
allied soldiers, use shortcut keys.
The “C” key is used to stand up, the “V” key
to crouch and the “B” key to crawl.
Movement during a missionIf you want to move your soldier, left mouse click on
the desired destination. Selected soldier or soldiers
will move to this point.
If you want him or them to run, just double click
instead of single click.
Characters will choose the shortest way to get to the
point, therefore be careful that their path does not
cross in front of or near enemy soldiers. They could
die easily.
Inside the buildings all of your soldiers may move
from one floor to another using stairs or ladders.
Each floor cleverly becomes transparent in order to
show the current positions of active soldiers.
If you want the character to move to a place that is
out of range, your soldier will inform you that he
cannot move there. In this case you must plan a dif-
ferent way to go.
Doors and gatesIf you want to go through a door, just right mouse
click with a cursor on the door. The active character
will move to the door and open it.
17
The more serious the wounds, the less the soldier is
able to fight. For instance, a wounded soldier cannot
carry an enemy body or run and he is also less accu-
rate when aiming at enemies.
However do not give up, one of the commando members is
a medic, who is able to provide essential medical
treatment, provided she has got enough medical sup-
plies.
If the medic is not present, other commando members
can provide first aid, however the effect will not be
the same as if the medic does the treatment.
Selecting a character or a group of charactersClicking on a character’s portrait will select this
character. You may select a character by directly
clicking on his body in the scene. Shortcuts can be
used in following way:
First character, press the “Q” key, second
character, press the “W” key, third character,
press the “E” key, fourth character, press the
“R” key and fifth character press the “T” key.
If you want to quickly move the camera above a
character, hold the ‘SHIFT’ key and press a
key corresponding to a character (see previous
article).
The most recently chosen character is high-
lighted in the game interface.
All characters within
the border will be
shown and controlled at
the same time.
If you want to select
more characters, hold
the ‘CTRL’ key and
click on all desired
characters or press
shortcut keys.
Holding the “CTRL” key
16
The character will go underground and reappear near
the exit.
This allows you to avoid any contact with enemy troops
and get closer to the mission’s objective.
Taking and discarding itemsDuring your mission you will find various military
equipment that is sometimes useful.
Some ready to use items can be found in different
boxes, on tables, near enemies.
But be aware that your inventory is limited, therefore
carefully plan every step and only take items that you
think will be essential or very helpful.
Pick up an item with a right mouse click on the cursor
over the item.
Search boxes and
other items for
useful supplies.
Each character’s
inventory is lim-
ited, so think
carefully before
taking an item.
If you want to
discard an item,
just pick an item
from the inventory
and discard it anywhere in the game window. The char-
acter will discard the item and free up a place in the
inventory.
Manipulating enemy bodiesWhen an enemy guard finds a dead colleague, he will
immediately start looking for the intruder. Therefore
19
Sometimes a character will give up opening the door
saying that a key or other tool is needed but not in
his possession. In this case you must first get the
suitable key, tool etc. and put it in the character’s
hand. Then the door can be opened.
Some doors, gates or doorways can only be opened by a
special mechanism. For instance hangar gates cannot be
opened by men alone. A left mouse click on the special
mechanism will open the gate in this case.
Places to hide and secret passagesOutdoors, you can use the terrain to hide your charac-
ter, for instance large stones, containers, chests and
other objects, cars etc.
A very useful place to hide is the back platform of a
transport vehicle. A number of such cars may be parked
in the area without being used by the enemy.
The active character will hide in the vehicle by hold-
ing ‘CTRL’ and right mouse clicking on the vehicle.
Indoors, it is much more difficult to hide from an
enemy guard but it is still possible. Some closets or
cases are large enough to hide in.
Right mouse click on the closet and you will see if
the character is able to hide there.
This picture shows a
military engineer
jumping on the back
platform of a vehicle.
A secret passage can
be a tunnel or city
sewage system. Your
character enters the
underground area by
right mouse click with
cursor on the under-
ground entrance.
18
Examining suspicious areasSometimes the terrain surrounding your character looks
nice but beware of minefields. Put the mine locator
into your military engineer’s hands and point the cur-
sor on the suspicious area. A left mouse click gives
the order to examine the area.
The military engineer will examine the area you have
defined and if mines are present, they will be high-
lighted.
Use a knife to deactivate mines that you have found. You
may use them later if you put them in the inventory.
Tactical modeSome actions can be carried out much easier using the
tactical mode.
The game can be paused at any time by pressing the
‘SPACE’ bar so you have the opportunity to carefully
think ahead without hassle.
Giving ordersWith a left mouse click, drag an order icon from the
cartridge to the place in the mission where you want
the soldier to carry out the order or the sequence of
orders.
If you want to change the sequence of orders, drag the
order icon to the trashcan icon with a left mouse
click. This will erase the order.
Cartridge of ordersIcons in cartridge are symbols for particular orders
that can be given to your men in tactical mode.
Timer iconsPutting this icon into sequence will tell the soldier
how long he should wait until he carries out further
steps of the sequence.,
21
it is essential to hide any enemy bodies where they
cannot be found so easily.
All commando members, except the medic and sniper, can
carry enemy bodies.
Point the cursor on the body and hold the ‘CTRL’ key.
Right mouse click and the character will go to the
body, pick it up and carry it to where you would like
to hide it.
Hiding dead enemies is
highly recommended. Do
not forget that sedated
enemies can be carried
as well.
The body will be laid
down by right clicking
the mouse button on the
place where you want to
leave it.
Remember that bodies are
heavy to carry, and
therefore your character
cannot run.
LuresSome items are very useful because enemy soldiers will
immediately react after spotting them. Your characters
can lure enemies into a trap or distract their atten-
tion.
For instance, coins or a magazine must be seen by the
enemy, but the noise of an explosion will attract many
enemies.
Put the item into the character’s hand and right mouse
click the place where the item should be thrown.
Do not forget that some officers ignore lures such as
coins or men’s magazines, however a Red book might
interest them.
20
Once the soldier has carried out all of the orders
contained on the first sign, he will move to the sec-
ond sign and carry out orders contained here etc.
Expected progress is visually indicated between marks
and accurate movement can be defined by moving and
placing marks for you soldier.
Aborting and changing a previously planned sequenceOnce signs are placed and orders are assigned to each
sign, you can repeatedly press the “SPACE” bar key,
the game will continue. Your men will start to carry
out orders.
You might want to change a previously planned
sequence.
Press the “SPACE” bar key to pause the game again.
Signs that have already been used disappear and you
see the actual situation. Now you can plan the
sequence again.
Characters in the gameIn this game, you are commander of a special force
commando. You lead soldiers from elite forces, trained
to carry out tasks behind enemy lines.
All commando members are best equipped and trained to
fulfill special tasks and the mission’s objectives. In
the following sections are descriptions of each char-
acter that is a member of the commando, including
their ability and characteristics.
Remember that a good commander knows his soldier’s
ability very well.
Main charactersRanger Benjamin Jacob GoodloverRanger cannot be every soldier. But if you meet him,
you will immediately think that he can. He is a tall,
respectful person.
23
Position iconThis particular icon tells the soldier which position
he should take.
Aim target iconAttack symbol. If you use this icon and put it into a
planned sequence, the cursor will change to an aim
icon and you can choose the target with a right mouse
click.
An order to attack can be executed by directly drag-
ging the aim icon from the cartridge to the target or
just by clicking on the enemy soldier. An order to
attack will be inserted into the sequence after the
last edited mark.
Behavior mode iconUsing this icon will change soldier’s behavior to
either aggressive or normal.
Trashcan iconYou can throw away useless parts of the sequence.
SignsWhen pressing the “SPACE” bar, the game will pause and
you can use the tactical mode.
The game screen will show a sign marking the starting
position of every member of the commando.
Point the cursor on any sign and hold the left mouse
button; by dragging the mouse, you can move the sign.
A mark can be deleted by simply dragging the sign to
the trashcan icon.
Pressing the “SPACE” bar key again will allow you to
resume the game. Soldiers whose signs have been moved
will run to these signs and if these signs contain any
of the icons from the cartridge, the soldier will
start to carry out the planned sequence of orders.
By left mouse clicking on a reachable position, you
will indicate the next point to reach.
22
Nighthawk is a Native American.
His place and date of birth is unknown.
His appearance is unforgettable with sharp
eyes and rough, dark skin. Many of his
comrades avoid his company, maybe because
of his habits. Like his ancestors, he has
inherited a close relationship to nature
and the instinct of a superb hunter.
He moves quietly and behaves like an animal in nature.
Nighthawk can overturn a dangerous situation with just
one shot.
Military engineer Connor McGregorHe wears a scarf around his neck, along with numerous
wires, and explosives, and he is able to explode any-
thing, even bridges, tunnels or steel doors.
With his mine locator he is able to find a safe pas-
sage across mine fields, open closed warehouses, hide
explosives in enemy vehicles’ engines or in crates
that might look interesting to the enemy.
The military engineer is an expert on explosives and
their use, but he is also a great soldier. He is able
to use a number of essential weapons.
McGregor is Australian.
He was born in Sweetwater, April 15, 1916.
As a young boy, he started to work in
mines where he learned to use explosives.
When the mines closed, he joined the army.
Here he could work with explosives again
and learn new techniques.
He wears his bush hat and his sense of
humor contrasts with the dangerous situations in which
he often finds himself.
McGregor still has both arms and legs so he must be
very good at handling explosives.
25
He carries a pistol, grenades, a big knife, and is
able to kill enemy soldiers within a second.
Ranger’s favorite activity is using any available
weapon, and he is the best for that.
Benjamin often smiles, but his smile does
not mean anything nice. Before he joined
the army, he used to work in a slaughter-
house, and he behaves like he still does.
He was born in 1921 in the Bronx, New
York. Because of poor living conditions in
an Afro-American ghetto, where his only
happiness was found in a street boxing
club, he decided to change his life and joined the
army. He got his first army experience in the Second
World War, fighting against the Japanese in the
Pacific, now he is in Korea to show that he is still
capable of supporting his comrades all the way.
”B.J.”, as his comrades often call him, can be trusted
for strong commando support.
Sniper NighthawkHe still carries his Sniper gun, which may be equipped
with infrared binoculars. Under his cloak he carries a
pistol with a silencer.
His task is not to directly engage in battle but to
defend and cover his comrades or clear the way from a
safe distance.
He is not specialized in a lot of different things,
but nevertheless he is an indispensable member of the
commando.
His sharp shooting can affect the outcome of the whole
operation.
Sniper is the only one who is able to use sniper guns
and equipment, he undertook Special Forces training in
this area. He is able to defend his comrades from a
number of places.
24
to the commando.
They can dress like enemy soldiers and get to places
where other commando members must use weapons. They
know the martial art taekwon-do and fight for the
freedom of their country.
Kim Yoon-Soo.
Since the beginning of the Korean War, Kim
joined a guerilla group and fought against
the enemy in the mountains. However his
group fell into a trap where all of his
comrades died, only he survived. Wounded,
he then walked 40 kilometers until he
crossed the front line where allied sol-
diers helped him to get to a hospital.
When he got his health back, Kim received a medal for
bravery and decided to join the army again and contin-
ue the battle for freedom. His nickname is “Kato”.
AlliesDuring the game, you will encounter a number of dif-
ferent allied troops and soldiers who will help you in
your fight against the enemy.
Allied soldiers can join the commando directly or can
only give helpful suggestions.
Investigate their characteristics and use their abili-
ties as much as you can.
EnemiesUsual enemy behaviorEnemies usually stay at their positions, guarding par-
ticular areas. If they are in danger or have wind of
suspicious activity, they guard much more carefully or
investigate areas that they think might be used by
allied troops or commandos.
Enemy structureThe enemy army is very big and full of ranks.
To make it easier, we recognize soldiers, officers and
27
Medic Sarah ParkerAll commando members are happy to have a woman in the
commando. For instance McGregor stated that he would
only let a woman treat his wounds in a battle.
Seeing that the UN force has a number of professional
women soldiers, the choice was not easy. However,
medic Sarah Parker was chosen among them all and has
since become a respected member of the commando. She
is able to heal many different kinds of wounds, for
instance falling from a high place to the ground, gas
poisoning. Her medical kit has all kinds of medical
supplies, including hypodermic needles or chloroform
to be used on the enemy.
Sarah, nicknamed “Honey Bear”, is
American.
She is a very professional nurse who
worked in a MASH troop before she joined
the Commando.
Since the very beginning of the program
selection whose purpose was to select the
best nurse for the commando, it was clear
that she would be the one to join the elite force
since she was able to fulfill the most dangerous
objectives.
Her nickname is quite ironic because she does not
allow any men to have a relationship with her.
Especially since the time her comrade Clint Westwood
tried to have a date with her and woke up naked in the
middle of the camp, tied to a pole with his trousers
on top.
When her comrade is wounded in battle, she runs through
bullets to help him as soon as possible. “Honey Bear”
is also doing this to show the world that women are
capable of doing the same things that men do.
Korean specialist Kim Yoon-SooOnly a Korean himself can move in North Korean terri-
tory without fearing that he will be recognized as an
enemy soldier.
Only the very best of them are selected and assigned
26
Visibility of enemyIf you enter the enemy’s visibility field you still
have a short period of time to escape before the enemy
finds out who you are.
Line showing the direction of visibility is color
divided into three sections.
In the lightest colored section you should not be rec-
ognized, however as you move closer to the enemy, he
will see that you are an intruder and his reaction
will be very quick.
If the enemy becomes suspicious, the blue line changes
to red and their reactions are much quicker. The sta-
tus can later change back to blue, however sometimes
it remains red until the end of the game.
Enemy armamentsIs various.
You can expect enemies to attack without any weapons
in hand-to-hand combat or using martial arts, as well
as enemies who shoot weapons and throw grenades.
Some of the most dangerous enemies include enemy
snipers. With their binoculars and sniper guns they
are able to find you and kill you from a large dis-
tance.
Weapons which enemy soldiers may use include heavy
machine guns which cannot be moved easily and which
guard important roads and strategic locations where
the enemy is awaiting possible attack.
Set off alarmWhen the enemy sees you, he may wait a moment and then
trigger an alarm.
This can also happen when an enemy guard finds one of
his dead colleagues or an unconscious comrade. For a
while, the enemy will try to find the intruder, after
a while they will return to a regular patrol session
29
Soviet advisors/officers. Moreover, there are workers
and technical staff.
Workers usual do their work and are not interested in
what happens around them, but if they spot your com-
mando member, they run away and bring enemy guards,
however some of them are equipped with guns, if they
spot your commando member, they will throw their work
down and try to shoot your soldier dead.
Ordinary soldiers can be killed quite easily, however
pay attention because they are equipped with different
kinds of weapons, sometimes with a machine gun, which
is extremely dangerous causing bad wounds or even
death.
Officers often carry only a gun but they can whistle
for immediate help. If an officer spots your commando
member, he cannot only call for help, but he can also
trigger an alarm that means that the mission failed.
Soviet advisors are the most dangerous enemies that
you will meet. These military veterans of many previ-
ous conflicts command not only ordinary soldiers but
also enemy officers. Soviet advisors are sometimes
mission’s objectives.
Kill them as quickly as possible because if they find
out that you are close to them, there will be a hunt
for the commando.
Enemy officer gives
orders to soldier.
28
A vehicle can only carry a driver, a co-driver and two
additional comrades inside. If more soldiers need to
be driven, they must jump on the back platform.
The order to jump on the back platform will be given
by holding the ‘CTRL’ key and a left mouse click on
the selected vehicle.
Enemy reactionsYou can run over enemy soldiers but their comrades
will react as if being attacked. They may even shoot
your vehicle to pieces.
Enemy soldiers can see into the vehicle and therefore
if your Korean comrade is not driving, the enemy can
recognize you and trigger an alarm or start shooting.
If the vehicle is driven by an enemy soldier who sees
you, he can stop, get out of the vehicle and start
shooting or react according to the situation.
If you lay an enemy body across the road, the enemy
driver will stop and get out of the vehicle to see
what happened.
Weapons and items in the gameGenerally, weapons are used in following way. You put
the gun into an active character’s hand and by right
mouse clicking on a target you give the order to
shoot.
If you are using a throwing weapon or shooting weapon,
a sighting sign will be shown, stating the expected
chances of hitting the target. The closer you are the
better the chance to hit. If you change positions to a
lower one, your chances will be better because you are
more stable and also the chances of being hit by the
enemy decrease.
Notice: with all ammunition you can see two numbers.
The first - number of magazines, the second - total
amount of bullets.
31
however they will be more careful than before.
An alarm can be set off by inadequate activity as
well, for instance by causing a premature explosion,
etc.
Vehicles in the gameEnemies can use a variety of vehicles and you can use
them as well if you capture the particular vehicle.
Destroying vehiclesMost vehicles can be destroyed by a mine or by firing
certain guns. Automatic guns will have an effect on
Jeeps but not on a tank. Only a bazooka gun will work
on a tank.
Most vehicles can even be destroyed by reckless driv-
ing, for example by hitting a wall or a pole.
Driving vehiclesYour character gets into the vehicle when you point
the cursor on the vehicle and left mouse click. If the
character is inside the vehicle and is able to drive,
then his hand icon will change to a driver icon.
Using vehicles is some-
times the key to success
A mouse click on the
character’s portrait
will start the vehicle
engine and you have con-
trol over the vehicle.

and activate explosives. He is equipped with two kinds
of explosives, timed explosives and remote controlled
explosives.
A timed explosive can be installed by putting it into
the military engineer’s hands and right mouse clicking
on the desired place to put the explosive. If this is
the mission’s objective it will be announced by the
game. The explosive can be used anywhere.
The military engineer will install the explosive and
three possibilities of setting the time control will

Immediately after the setting up, get out of range of
the explosion, otherwise you will get hurt or even
killed.
Using remote controlled explosivesThe set up is the same as above, however the explosion
itself will go off later, with a left mouse click on
the detonator icon, at a safe distance from the explo-
sion and hidden from enemies.
The military engineer
placed the explosive on
one of the containers.
The icon in the upper
part of the screen
serves for the ignition.
Using remote controlled
explosives is much more
comfortable however they
are not always available
when you need them.
