Airport Safety Management Systems (SMS)

Order 5200.11 issued on August 30, 2010Requires FAA Airports safety risk management review of:– New or changes standards– Modifications of design standards– Airport layout plans– Part 150 noise abatement

procedures

Projects/approvals started after June 1, 2011 will be subject to the order

Airport Badging

FAA has taken the position that it shouldn’t have to pay for airport id badges & possibly required trainingWe don’t believe that FAA’s position is legally justifiedACI-NA will be escalating this issue within FAA over the next few weeks

Two key FAA documents are undergoing review– AC 150/5300-13, Airport Design– Order 5100.38C, Airport

Improvement Handbook

Expecting to see AIP Handbook this summerAirport Design update seems to have slowed considerably, in part because of FAA retirements
