1. GENERAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

• The extractor is controlled via the JetBlack Safety Cleaning Booth and will operate automatically without warning. Extreme caution is advised when carrying out any maintenance to the equipment. All electrical connections should be removed from the Cleaning Booth.

• This machinery is for use in heavy industrial current installations. During operation this unit has high speed rotating parts. For this reason, unauthorised removal of the necessary covers, improper use, incorrect operations or insufficient maintenance could lead to severe personal injury or/and damage of the unit.

• If the connecting cable to the blower is damaged, there is a risk of death due to an electric shock. Such defects must be eliminated immediately.

When operating the unit, always wear:

▪ Eye protection ▪ Ear protection ▪ Safety footwear ▪ Dust mask suitable for the media being removed.

Never: ▪ Run the extractor with any of the guards disconnected. ▪ Run the extractor with filter disconnected. ▪ Run the extractor with extraction hose disconnected.

Those responsible for the safety of the installation must ensure that:

• Only qualified personnel are entrusted to work on the unit.

• These persons always have at their disposal the operating instructions and other product documentation supplied when they do such work, and that they undertake to follow consistently any such instructions.

• Non-qualified personnel are not permitted to work on the unit.

Qualified personnel are persons who, have had training, experience and knowledge of relevant standards, specifications, accident prevention regulations and operating conditions, have been authorised by those responsible for the safety of the plant to carry out the necessary work and who can recognise and avoid possible dangers. IEE and other relevant regulations should also be observed. It is assumed that the basic planning work for the installation and all work concerning transport, assembly, commissioning, maintenance and repair is done by qualified personnel or checked by responsible skilled personnel. Note should be taken of the following:

• Technical data and information on permissible use (assembly and connection summaries, operating conditions etc) which are contained in the operating/instructions and motor rating plates.

• General safety regulations.

• The proper use of tools, lifting equipment and safety regulations.

• The use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

These instructions cannot claim to cover all details of possible equipment variations, nor can they provide for every possible example of installation, operation or maintenance.

The specified maintenance and inspection measures must be carried out regularly by trained service personnel to avoid any interruptions or breakdowns. Deviations from ‘normal’ performance (i.e. higher temperatures or vibrations) indicate that there is likely to be a malfunction of the unit. To avoid faults the responsible maintenance personnel must be notified immediately.

2. INSTALLATION GUIDE

• Please note: Some of the assembly procedure is best accomplished by two persons. Some of the items are heavy and awkward, and a mishandling error could cause injury.

• Remove the extractor from inside of the Cleaning Booth and unpack. Check off all of the components against the provided delivery notes. Check for damage on arrival. Please check for any transit damage and report it to the supplier immediately.

• Fit the four castor wheels to the extractor base using the X16 M8X1.25X14mm hex bolts, spring washers, plain washers to the non castor wheel side of the extractor base. A plain washer and hex nut are used to secure the wheels in place. The two brake castor wheels should be fitted at the fan end of the extractor base. See below image.

• The JetBlack Safety extractor requires only the castors to be fitted before its ready to be connected to the Cleaning Booth.

• The extractor is powered directly from the Cleaning Booth via a single plug, connect as required.

• This appliance must be grounded. If it should malfunction or breakdown, grounding provides a path of least resistance for electric current to reduce the risk of electric shock. This appliance is equipped with an earth stud provided on the base. This stud must be properly grounded in accordance with all local codes and ordinances.

• The flexible air pipe from the Booth must be connected to the hose tail located on the spigot from the fan to the extractor drum

• Connect the flexible ducting from the extractor to the Booth via X2 jubilee clips provided. NOTE: Care must be taken to ensure the flexible pipe and jubilee clips are secured correctly. Failure to do so will result in airborne dust outside of the extraction system.

• Be aware that in dry air periods or areas, the movement of the air through the machine can generate static electric fields. These are not normally a problem as the machine is bonded together via its construction and is earthed back through the electrical supply. Problems can occur with isolated items, such as stands or hosing that are insulated from the ground (standing on rubber feet, suspended in the air etc). If possible, try to connect everything together electrically, to eliminate static shocks. Use the integral metal coil in flexible plastic hosing to connect units together.

The hose-tail needs connecting to the Cleaning Booth LEV system via Ø8mm flexible air tube. If the extractor is not being used in conjunction with the Cleaning Booth, the hose-tail needs to be removed and replaced with a 1/8 BSP plug.

4. SET-UP / OPERATION

• The extractor is controlled via the Cleaning Booth and will operate automatically without warning. Extreme caution is advised when carrying out any maintenance to the equipment. All electrical connections should be removed from the Cleaning Booth.

• When any Booth door is opened this automatically starts the extractor.

• The extractor will keep running until the Booth door is opened again. This starts the countdown sequence for the extractor to shut down.

• If the Booth door has not been opened for 5 minutes the extractor will shut down.

• In pre June 2021 models, the filter shaker motor will then operate for 30 seconds to remove any build-up of dust in the filter.

• After this operation the system shuts down.

5. MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS

6. Note: Before performing any maintenance, the extractor must be locked out and isolated from the electrical supply. Filter replacement:

• Remove the filter cover by undoing the X4 M10 hex bolts, X1 M8 nut located on top of the filter cover. Use the X2 handles to lift the cover over the filter. NOTE: Cover weight 8Kg.

• Remove the filter element by undoing X4 M10 hex head bolts and nuts. Once these have been removed the filter element is free to be removed. Care must be taken not to damage the gasket. Any excess material left in the drum can be vacuumed out.

• Replace the filter element and gasket making sure both mating surfaces are clear of any debris, secure using X4 M10 hex bolts.

• Replace the filter cover with X4 M10 hex bolts, and X1 M8 nut.

Note: Before performing any maintenance, the extractor must be locked out and isolated from the electrical supply. Waste collection bag removal:

• Do not let the waste collection bag over fill. See below image for maximum fill level.

• The correct PPE must be worn when emptying the waste collection bag. Dust mask, gloves and eye protection.

• Undo the spring clip that secures the waste collection bag to the drum.

• DISPOSE OF THE WASTE COLLECTION BAG ADHERING TO COSH REGULATIONS.

• Fit a clean waste collection bag and secure using the spring clip.
