By creating a risk matrix, we can evaluate decisions that are needed. The red or

extreme column stands for high risk. These are all decisions that should be cautiously

looked over. The orange/major stands ideas that should also be heavily evaluated but

are not as risky as the extreme column. The yellow/moderate column stands for risks

that can be dealt with. They may pose issues but can be worked around. The light

green/minor stands for risks that may also pose issues but nothing to be alarmed about.

The bright green/negligible column stands for risks that do not pose much of a threat at

all.

Network/Telecommunication Administration

Our day-to-day duties of setting up the network was to figure out the areas with

the highest amount of people that would internet access. Which turns out to be

room 105 on the first floor and room 200 on the second floor. We then figured out

where to install the Router/modem which is room 111 since it is the center most

room on the first floor, which is also where the most people are out of the 2

floors. We then figured out where to install the access points. We figured that the

access points will be installed in various high traffic areas and rooms. These

access points are strong so having 10 of them spread across various areas of

the floors will provide strong internet access.

When it comes to repairs, if there is any damaged equipment, it will be replaced

in a timely manner. If there are any changes to the amount of people, if more

rooms need internet access, or if there is a weak connection, we will upgrade the

hardware or install more access points and routers to meet the needs of ACME.

Network Security

Security Practices/Implementation

• SSID name will be changed from it’s default name to prevent easy intrusion

• WPA-2 Enterprise 802.1x

• NIDS (Network Intrusion Detection System)

• Remote access Virtual Private Network

• Distributed monitoring system

• AirWave's Management Platform (AP Audit, policy changes,

firmware)

• StillSecure Border Guard from Latis Networks (intrusion detection

and content filtering of WLAN)

Internet Usage Policy Internet access to global electronic information resources is provided to

assist employees in obtaining work-related data and technology. The following guidelines have been established to help ensure responsible and productive Internet usage. While Internet usage is intended for job-related activities, incidental and occasional brief personal use is permitted within reasonable limits.

All Internet data that is composed, transmitted, or received via our computer communications systems is considered to be part of the official records of ACME and, as such, is subject to disclosure to law enforcement or other third parties. Consequently, employees should always ensure that the business information contained in Internet e-mail messages and other transmissions is accurate, appropriate, ethical, and lawful.

The equipment, services, and technology provided to access the Internet remain at all times the property of ACME. As such, ACME reserves the right to monitor Internet traffic, and retrieve and read any data composed, sent, or received through our online connections and stored in our computer systems.

Monthly Utilization Report

A network utilization report shall be provided on a monthly basis, and can additionally be provided on demand. The latest version of the ManageEngine OpManager is the chosen software, as it offers all the necessary features of such software:

• Network Configuration Management • Network Health Management • WAN RTT Monitoring • Network Traffic Analysis • Network Mapping • VOIP Monitoring

Additionally, the software is cross-platform and mobile apps are available. The entry-level Essential package is the best choice, and it starts at $1,995 for 50 devices.

RF Shielding In order to protect the system from external interference, electromagnetic

shielding will be implemented. RF paint and film will be used to cover walls and floors in room 111 to protect it from electromagnetic, radio frequency and low frequency radiation. The type of paint that will be used is environmentally friendly, attenuation of 36dB with 99% effectiveness. As it stands, a gallon of RF Paint covers about 600 sq ft. Enough paint will be purchased for covering all necessary surfaces at least twice, as one coating may not be enough. Additionally. window film will be implemented.

If following the post-implementation assessing additional shielding is required, a Faraday cage can be added. We followed these steps to determine best implementation of RF shielding:

• Define security requirements • Assess external RF interference by identifying the magnitude of signals

originating from outside the facility, with the use of a spectrum analyzer • Determine quantity and cost of materials

System Analysis

Star Topology will be used as the networking layout. Since it is connected to a

central switch, any wiring problems can be easily traced and managed. If new

devices need to be added, they can be with ease without affecting any other

devices. Although a lot of its performance depends on the central switch, it is

easy to troubleshoot and detect any failures. It is also not the most expensive

topologies to implement. It is effective but not as expensive as the mesh topology

would be.

As for our costs and benefits of what we bought:

Device Qty. $ Notes

Cable Modem Combined with router

N/A N/A

RF Shielding 2 $460.00 Shielding Paint Yshield HSF54 - Black in color,

Total Time 6 weeks

Internet Service Provider The internet service provider we will use is Verizon Fios. Verizon Fios is the best choice because they offer 500mbps upload and download speed. At the price of 364.99 per month, it is one of the more expensive ISP choices. However, with less expensive companies such as CenturyLink which offers business packages for as low as 29.99 per month, they only offer up to 100mbps upload and download speed. AT&T offers different types of network services, but their fiber optic business speeds only go up to 300mbps in their fastest package. With such a large amount of people coming in and out of

the buildings and using the network, it is best to have the quickest internet connection to ensure things run smoothly. Technical Support Our technical support number is 410-555-1337. ACME can contact us at anytime if there is something malfunctioning with the network. On top of routine maintenance, they can contact us for either troubleshooting over the phone, call for people to come out and fix the problem, or go through our automated troubleshooting service over the phone. The automated service will prompt the caller for the type of problem they’re experiencing and tell them how to fix it. Due to many different factors that can cause technology to fail such as water damage, chewed wires, shortages, and the like, we will repair and replace any broken hardware/wires that we install.

Section 508 Web-based technology and information - The criteria for web-based technology and

information are based on access guidelines. These provisions ensure access for people with vision impairments who rely on assistive products to access computer-based information, such as screen readers, which translate what's on a computer screen into automated audible output. Some conventions, such as verbal tags or identification of graphics, like frames, are necessary so that these devices can "read" them for the user in a sensible way. Telecommunications Products - These are designed primarily to ensure access to people who are deaf or hard of hearing. This includes compatibility with hearing aids, cochlear implants, assistive listening devices, and TTYs. TTYs are devices that enable people with hearing or speech impairments to communicate over the telephone; they typically include an acoustic coupler for the telephone handset, a simplified keyboard, and a visible message display.
