In 2005, Acolytes architectural lighting line was formed and has been the companys focus ever since.

The StripLyte began this evolution and has continued with RibbonLyte, the High Output Lyte Bar and

many more cutting edge LED lighting choices.

One of Acolytes primary tenets is to never stop innovating. As evidence, in 2011 Acolyte debuted

Variable White RibbonLyte. This flexible LED lighting simulates a wide range of white lighting from

sunrise to sunset. Designers have been ecstatic over this product, never needing to specify a color

temperature again. TM

Acolyte again transformed the lighting scene when it introduced Incandescent LED in 2012. At 2400

Kelvin, Incandescent LED reproduces the amber hues and warmth of incandescent light.

Our design, manufacturing, and distribution spans the globe. Headquartered out of New York City,

with a factory and office in China and distribution channels in India, Acolyte is showing the world

the power of LED lighting technology. Numerous patents in the fields of LED lighting, heat sinking

Acolytes founder, JR Guerrieri, has known for years that white

LEDs are the way of the future. Since its inception in 1992,

Acolytes focus has been on advancing the capabilities of LED

lighting technology and introducing LEDs to the world.

Acolyte began transforming the fashion, event, floral and

hospitality markets when it pioneered battery operated LED

lighting. Products like the votive light, the worlds first battery

operated flameless candle and the HD24, a wireless-controlled

RGB entertainment wash fixture, provided a cooler, more

To produce white light LEDs, we start by carefully selecting the highest quality blue dies. We choose

440 nm, royal blue dies with a very tight range of +/- 5 nm. These are the dies that weve found work

best to generate the range of white light we strive to produce.

Phosphor is the luminescent substance that coats the surface of the LED. The phosphor on our LEDs

emits light at a higher wavelength than the blue LEDs themselves, giving the LEDs a full spectrum of

light. Acolyte has formulated proprietary batches of phosphor for each of our color temperatures.

By manufacturing our LED this way, Acolyte can ensure its customers the most accurate color

temperature, CRI and hue, consistently, time after time.

Acolyte tracks every customers purchase by their PO# and can trace their LEDs to the exact

phosphor mix and the exact blue die used for their order and the exact assembly date and time.

LED lighting demands a level of quality control above

and beyond what the lighting industry has traditionally

required. Adherence to this quality control is one of

the most important parts of our operation. Use of

LEDs requires greater knowledge and sophistication

than in designing a traditional lighting fixture and

Salvatore Guerrieri (JR), the founder of the company, has always had a passion for technology

and electronics and an entrepreneurial spirit. In college, he stumbled upon a long-held family ravioli

recipe and started his first venture, Bratchs Ravioli. In 1988 he was awarded the Small Business

Administrations Entrepreneur of the Year Award for the state of New Jersey.

After selling Bratchs in 1993, JR followed his passion for music, gaining admission to the prestigious

Juilliard Conservatory of Music. Enrolling at Juilliard and moving to NYC, he also worked as a music

engineer in many of the blues, jazz and rock clubs. Through his involvement in the engineering and

recording side of the industry he had the good fortune of discovering the up and coming technology

that was the LED, light emitting diode.

JR began experimenting with melding LEDs with electronics in the interest of creating a low-power,

bright LED lighting system. By programming code onto an inexpensive microchip, he was able to

create the first battery-operated smart LED device. He named it the SmartLyte and it was used to

illuminate the interior of handbags. He filed a patent on the technology and continued to innovate.

He developed products for the fashion, special events, floral and hospitality industries and even

introduced the first ever flameless, battery-operated LED votive candle.

By 1995 he looked to take the technology further and the architectural lighting division Acolyte LED

was formed. He has continued to innovate, filing numerous patents related to LEDs, heat-sinking

technology and LED control systems.

JR is leading Acolyte through tremendous growth and product development having established a

manufacturing presence in China with rigid quality-control standards and having installed an ever

growing network of representatives across the United States to distribute our exciting products.

With his guidance, Acolyte has become the go-to LED lighting solution for the nations premier

architectural projects.

Alex Nicolaides was born into the home of a New York City architect,

which encouraged a fascination with design and engineering at an early

age. Following his passion for design, he attended Wentworth Institute

of Technology in Boston, where he studied Industrial Design. The school

offered him a unique internship program giving him real world experience

while attending classes. He spent four months at Material Connexion - a

unique materials library in NYC used by world-renowned designers and

architects such as Philippe Stark and Frank Gehry. He also spent four

months interning at ILEX, a lighting fixture design company in East Taunton,

MA.

After graduation, Alex worked for lighting designer Robert Sonneman at

Sonneman Way of Light. During this time Alex not only worked on Roberts

designs, but was able to bring several of his own lighting designs to market.

He began freelancing for Acolyte during this time and after eight months

joined us full time.

Acolytes transformation into the world of architectural lighting was just

beginning and the company was small and because of this, Alexs time was

needed in all departments. He has progressed from a jack of all trades

position to the Director of Design and Product Development and is now

the Vice President of Operations and Design. His oversight includes

quotations, customer service, production, sales, web and graphic design

and product development.

With over 30 years experience in sales with various manufacturers, Johnnie

has held positions ranging from factory training representative, Regional

sales manager, national sales manager to Vice President of Sales. He

has a successful track record of establishing a sales base for numerous

organizations and has personally handled national accounts in the retail,

hospitality, defense and government fields.

Johnnie can usually be found interacting with lighting representatives:

working hard to establish new accounts, strengthen existing ones and

spread the word about our excellent products.

What is the foot-candle rating? Why is it usually more important than a fixtures lumen output?

Foot-candles are a measure of how much light is projected on a given surface area from a certain distance. Because LED light is directional, foot-candles can tell you how much light there will be in the location you want it to be.

Suppose youre looking at an incandescent fixture with a very high lumen output, which is the total amount of light emitted. Its lumen output may be higher than an LED fixture to which youre comparing it, but because LED light is directional, the LED fixture may project more light where you actually need it. This is what foot-candle measurements will tell you.

We are presently testing all of our LED lighting to get accurate illuminance data and will be constantly updating this information on our website as this information is gathered.

How important is CRI?

Many of our customers ask us about the CRI of our LED lighting because they want to make sure they faithfully represent the colors of the objects they are illuminating. However, the CRI was introduced at a time when a second generation of fluorescent lamps were being brought onto the market and is not as applicable to newer light sources.

The National Institute for Standards and Technology has criticized CRI for not correlating well in practice with color rendering quality, with respect to LED lighting. Numerous other sources have stated that CRI is not a good indicator for use in visual assessment, especially for sources with a CCT below 5000 Kelvin.2

While we list the CRI rating for many of our products, it is important to note the variability and unpredictability with this standard with respect to LED lighting.

Lumens: measures light output. The higher the number, the more light is emitted.

Lumens per watt (lm/W): measures efficiency. The higher the number, the more efficient the product.

Watts: measures the energy required to light the product. The lower the wattage, the less energy is used.

Correlated Color Temperature (CCT): measures white light color. Cool colors have higher Kelvin temperatures (3600-5500 K); warm colors have lower color temperatures (2700-3000 K). Cool white light is usually better for visual tasks. Warm white light is usually better for living spaces because it casts a warmer light on skin and clothing. Color temperatures of 2700 to 3500 K are recommended for most general indoor and task lighting.

Color Rendering Index (CRI): measures the effect of the lamps light spectrum on the color appearance of objects. The higher the number, the truer the appearance of light on objects. Incandescent lighting is 100 on the CRI.

Directional light emission: Light is directed where it is needed. Unlike incandescent and fluorescent lighting, it does not emit light and heat in all directions, which is wasteful.

No warm-up time: LEDs require no warm-up time unlike fluorescent lighting.

Minimum heat: LEDs emit 75% less heat than incandescent lighting.1
