Acorn Engineering• Emergency showers are plumbing fixtures • Acorn is a plumbing fixture manufacturer• Commercial showers• 55+ years of experience• Use to make safety showers –

Logan showers• Design, manufacture

Why Specify Acorn Safety?

What makes us different? Nothing, but…”

• We’re the new kids, able to use hindsight

• What did the competition do right or wrong?

• Incorporated all the best features, standard

• Little details that go unnoticed

Hi-Vis Yellow Powder Coat• Some competitors do,

some don’t• If it’s not stainless

steel, chrome plated or plastic

• Added corrosion and environmental protection

• Most importantly -Increased location recognition in time of need

Pre-Assembly

• Not all competitors do

• All Acorn eye and eye/face wash models 100%

• Combo shower has 40-50 pieces > 1-1/2 to 2 hours

• Loop assy complete

• Acorn shower < 1 hour

In-line Strainer

• Standard on all models• Some competition

doesn’t offer all or it’s an add$$

• Pipes never flushed enough

• Removes the slightest possibility of debris failure on startup

• Our models must work first time every time.

1/2" Ball Valve Construction

• Every competitor has had a failure

• Excessive force shearing brass stem

• Excessive torque • We use a stainless steel

stem and ball• Not every competitor has

done this• Our models must work

first time, every timeValve (closed) Valve (open)

Eyewash Push Flag

• 14 ga. stainless steel• Some competitors

use plastic, cast pot metal

• Excessive force failures

• First time, every time

Dust Covers

• Required by ANSI Z358.1• Protects from airborne

contaminants• Flush fit, won’t blow

open in wind• Easy release on

activation• Some competitors use

hard/soft plastic caps• Crack & break,

stick in heat

Barrier Free

• More building codes requiring all fixtures to be ADA or BF

• Recessed wall shower systems 4”

Barrier Free

• One of the largest offerings of BF models

Antimicrobial

• All eyewash, eye/face wash, and drench hose sprayheads and plastic showerheads are manufactured with antimicrobial ABS plastic.

• An antimicrobial agent is molded into the ABS material, providing integrated protection

Codes & Compliance

• ANSI Z358.1- 2009, Emergency Eyewash and Shower Equipment– Voluntary Standard, not enforceable– OSHA uses as a guideline, cites through the general

duty clause 29 CFR 1910.151, which requires that...“...where the eyes or body of any person may be exposed to injurious corrosive materials, suitable facilities for quick drenching or flushing of the eyes and body shall be provided within the work area for immediate emergency use.”

ANSI Z358.1 - 2009• The standard which governs the configuration,

performance, installation, testing and maintenance of all emergency drench equipment.

• Owner, Engineer and Manufacturer must work together to determine proper equipment selection.

• Acorn Safety products are compliant and will be third party certified (IAPMO)

• “The Owner has to know his work place environment”

• “Can’t be a little bit pregnant, can’t be a little bit compliant”
