Dutch Post-Impressionist painter
Had very close relationship with his brother, Theo.
Suffered from anxiety and mental illness.
Died at the age of 37 from a supposed self-inflicted gunshot wound.
How to Paint a Landscape
First:First- Find a clear, simple landscape image with a
clear background, middle ground and foreground.

Second:Second – Sketch your
image on regular paper for and color it in colored pencil for practice.
Work out all “issues” now. Shape and size are important!
Then, draw it on your canvas.
Third: Set up your palette.
Take only the paint you’ll use in this sitting.
Leave blank space in the middle for mixing.
Put your paint on the outter edges, in order of the spectrum.

Fourth:Four – “Block in” your color. Find all the “local”
colors and put them down.
Fifth:Five – Begin adding detail to the background
using different brushes and techniques.

Sixth:Six – Begin using technique to add detail and
make your painting more realistic.

Seventh:Seven – Continue adding detail using various
techniques to the middle ground and foreground. Consider all details.
