It all started with the KASR HD, the firstcabin with elevating roof in the Europeanmarket.

With this innovation, ACTION MOBIL turneda new page in cabin construction. The basicidea was to create a cabin type that wouldallow low structural height andsimultaneously a low centre of gravity foroff-road trips.

In later models of the series DOGON andOUTBACK, these ideas were followed upconsistently and the result was cabins thatproved their worth also in rally competitions.Even 8 m long roofs were made possible.Right from the start, a hydraulic systemwas chosen for the elevating mechanism,since this technology is a lot more operation-proof than any electric system. If required,also loads are to be transported on the roof(see DOGON with roof garden). Thehydraulic drive can handle transport of suchdiverse loads without problems.

Thanks to the low structural height of itscabin, the Mercedes-ZETROS chassis cancarry an extremely compact expeditionmotor-home. For this chassis the modelwith elevating roof is the ideal choice!

In the past few years, the cabins of mosttruck chasses have become higher andhigher. Thus the idea and advantage of abody that would be as low as possible wascounteracted. As early as 1997, ACTIONMOBIL introduced a new application of theelevating roof with the series L-2000. Theelevation height was extended thus creatinga second level for the bedroom area.With this construction type, the total lengthof the vehicle can be reduced and the areagained in the elevating roof can house aspacious double bed. We also offer interiordesigns with a separate 3rd and 4th bed.

The story is almost 30 years old and stillup to date in 2012.

The ATACAMA interior concept, which was used also in the KSAR HD, provides a functionalsanitary area in the front part of its cabin. The door lined with a mirror, closes off theliving room. In different constellations, this door changes the area’s functions fromconnecting corridor toward the cabin, to wardrobe, to closed toilet and shower cubicle.

Mobile in any direction: the motorcycle on the hydraulic lift, which at thesame time serves as a lift for the spare wheel and the sand plates.Tied up in the storage room and easily accessible thanks to a pull-out device– the bicycles.
