    Invitation for

    Honorary Publicity Staff of Gangnam-gu

    Gangnam-gu recruits volunteers who will promote the attractive Gangnam-gu. Membersof honorary publicity staff will carry out promotional activities, introducing Gangnam-guvia personal SNS, Twitter, Facebook, blog and e-mail to their home countries.

    In addition, they will have opportunities to publish their personal essays on Gangnam

    Ggachi, a monthly newsletter of Gangnam-gu, about their experiences in the Gangnamarea. Volunteers who will offer interpretation services at international events which arehosted by Gangnam-gu are always welcome as well.

    High-performance staff members will be selected twice a year and awarded with freesightseeing around tourist attractions in Gangnam-gu. The members can also attendperformances, events and exhibitions organized by Gangnam-gu for free. Anyforeigners who live in Korea and love life in Gangnam can apply.

    Korean Traditional Lamp Making

    Korea has a great number of traditional cultural heritages. Korean traditional lamps areone of the important national heritages with a deep-rooted history and origin ofBuddhism.

    The culture of making a lamp is especially common in the countries with Buddhistculture including China and Japan. These countries usually host big events with lampsevery year just like the ones in Korea.

    The Yeoksam Global Village Center is organizing an event where you can make aKorean traditional lamp. It will be a meaningful experience for you and the lamp youmake will be a perfect item to decorate your room or house.

    Volunteer at St. Marys Hospital

    Volunteer at St. Marys Hospital with Yeoksam Global Village Center!

    On Saturday, January 15 from 10:00 to12:00, the volunteer group will pay its eleventhvisit to St. Marys Hospital in Gangnam to help with the preparation of medical kits, toclean the facilities and to spend time with young patients.

    Those of you who have interest in music, magic, arts or different recreation to sharewith children are welcome to join us!! (No prior experience required.)

    Making Tteokguk & Haemulpajeon

    The Yeoksam Global Village Center will host a Korean cooking class on Wednesday,January 19th.

    Tteokguk is a Korean dish which is traditionally eaten during Korean New Year. Thedish consists of a broth (guk) and thinly sliced rice cakes (tteok). It is a tradition to eattteokguk on New Year's Day because it is believed to grant good luck for the

    forthcoming year and gain an additional year of life.

    Pajeon is one kind ofjeon (Korean pancake) with green onions as its prominentingredient. It is a pancake-like Korean dish made from a batter ofeggs, flour, rice flour,green onions and seafood.
