DirectionsYou Will Need:•Optional: Old VHS tape container for storing the activity. There are several types of containers. Old VHS movies can be easily found in second-hand stores or at garage sales.•Race car. You can find small race cars at any dollar store.
Directions for Assembly:
•If using the VHS tape as a container, print pages 3-4 on office paper•Print pages 5-32 on cardstock•Laminate pages 5-32 if desired•Slide page 3 into the sleeve of the VHS container•Cut directions and adhere to the inside left side of the container•Place the race car racing strips and the race car in the right side of the container
Teaching Directions:
Provide the student with Race Car Blending Card and the race car. Have the student move the race car along the track while saying the sounds as the car slowly passes under each letter. For example, the student will say /hhhhhhh/ as the car moves under the “h”, /aaaaaaa/ as the car moves under the “a” and /mmmmmm/ as the car moves under the “m”. Have the student blend the sounds together rather than separate each sounds. The student can repeat the process with the same card going slightly faster each time.
