May 1, 2020 3Meridian parks & recreation / summer 2020 / www.meridiancity.org/activityguide

HAfter the non-traditional spring we’ve just encountered, filled with an abundance of “at home” time, I’m sure many of you are cheering the warmer weather and sunshine. While every community is still learning how to manage the

coronavirus, we are looking to summer and optimistic for the planned activities. With summertime traditionally such a beautiful and active time in our community, I am confident you will still find plenty of ways to responsibly recreate, socialize, and enjoy all our great city has to offer. This catalog contains a variety of activities designed to inspire you and your family to be active, engaged, and, of course, have fun in our community this summer. It is my hope you will find activities that stimulate your mind, keep your body energized, and help you safely reconnect with family and friends. As always, the health and well-being of our staff, instructors and participants remains our top priority. We are following recommendations of the Center for Disease Control, local health officials, and elected leaders.

This includes implementing a variety of preventative measures and modifications in an effort to help protect against the spread of COVID-19 in the activities offered by our Parks and Recreation Department. This is a great time to get out and enjoy our parks and pathways. In fact, I was recently able to enjoy a ride on the Five Mile Creek Pathway with our Parks and Recreation Director and would encourage you to do the same as we continue to develop this pivotal connection for our community. Of course, we should do this in responsible ways that include distancing ourselves from others, limit touching commonly touched items, washing our hands often, wearing face coverings when appropriate, and staying home when feeling sick. Thanks for doing your part so we can all enjoy our parks and pathways and I look forward to seeing you out enjoying our Idaho summer.
