Acts 10


Introduction

1. Jesus is ascended and reigning

2. Jesus gives His power through the work of the Spirit

3. The Spirit has been poured out as a gift on His

people

4. They are now Spirit empower people on His mission


Acts 10:44-48

44 While Peter was still saying these things, the Holy

Spirit fell on all who heard the word. 45 And the

believers from among the circumcised who had come

with Peter were amazed, because the gift of the Holy

Spirit was poured out even on the Gentiles. 46 For they

were hearing them speaking in tongues and extolling

God. Then Peter declared,


Acts 10:44-48

47 “Can anyone withhold water for baptizing these

people, who have received the Holy Spirit just as we

have?” 48 And he commanded them to be baptized

in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked him to

remain for some days.

Holy Spirit Baptism

born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the

kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is

flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Do

not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born

again.’ 8 The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear

its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or

where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the

Spirit.”


Acts 10:47-48


Acts 10:34-42

34 So Peter opened his mouth and said: “Truly I

understand that God shows no partiality, 35but in every

nation anyone who fears him and does what is right is

acceptable to him. 36 As for the word that he sent to

Israel, preaching good news of peace through Jesus

Christ (he is Lord of all), 37 you yourselves know what

happened throughout all Judea, beginning from

Galilee after the baptism that John proclaimed:


Matthew 28

18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in

heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go

therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing

them in[b] the name of the Father and of the Son and

of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I

have commanded you. And behold, I am with you

always, to the end of the age.”


Ephesians 4

4 There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were

called to the one hope that belongs to your call— 5

one Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6 one God and

Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.

1 Corinthians 12

12 For just as the body is one and has many members,

and all the members of the body, though many, are

one body, so it is with Christ. 13 For in one Spirit we

were all baptized into one body—Jews or Greeks,

slaves[d] or free—and all were made to drink of one

Spirit.


Applications

1 – You need to be baptised in water

2 – You need to be baptised with the Spirit & go on

with the Spirit

3 – You need to be committed to the church because

you are part of the body.
