Acts 13:4-5

The two of them, sent on their way by the Holy Spirit, went down to Seleucia and sailed from there to

Cyprus.

When they arrived at Salamis, they proclaimed the word of God in the Jewish synagogues. John was with

them as their helper.

Acts 13:13

From Paphos, Paul and his companions sailed to Perga in

Pamphylia, where John left them to return to Jerusalem.

Acts 15:36

Some time later Paul said to Barnabas, "Let us go back and visit the brothers in all the towns where we preached the word of the Lord

and see how they are doing.”

Acts 15:37

Barnabas wanted to take John, also called Mark, with them, 38 but Paul

did not think it wise to take him, because he had deserted them in

Pamphylia and had not continued with them in the work.

Acts 15:39

They had such a sharp disagreement that they parted company. Barnabas

took John Mark and sailed for Cyprus,

40 but Paul chose Silas and left, commended by the brothers to the

grace of the Lord. 41 He went through Syria and Cilicia,

strengthening the churches.

“God can interrupt our failings to bring about good things”

Acts 15:39

They had such a sharp disagreement that they parted company. Barnabas

took John Mark and sailed for Cyprus,

40 but Paul chose Silas and left, commended by the brothers to the

grace of the Lord. 41 He went through Syria and Cilicia,

strengthening the churches.

Acts 4:36

- … a Levite from Cyprus, whom the apostles called Barnabas (which

means “son of encouragement”) …

Colossians 4:10

My fellow prisoner Aristarchus sends you his greetings, as does John Mark,

the cousin of Barnabas. (You have received instructions about him; if he

comes to you, welcome him.)

Philemon 23-24

Epaphras, my fellow prisoner in Christ Jesus, sends you greetings.

And so do Mark, Aristarchus, Demas and Luke, my fellow workers.

2 Timothy 4:9-18

Do your best to come to me quickly, for Demas, because he loved this world,

has deserted me and has gone to Thessalonica. Crescens has gone to

Galatia, and Titus to Dalmatia.

Only Luke is with me. Get Mark and bring him with you, because he is

helpful to me in my ministry. When you come, bring my cloak … and my scrolls, especially the parchments.

Alexander the metalworker did me a great deal of harm. The Lord will repay him for what he has done.

You too should be on your guard against him, because he strongly

opposed our message.

At my first defense, no one came to my support, but everyone deserted

me. May it not be held against them.

But the Lord stood at my side and gave me strength, so that through

me the message might be fully proclaimed and all the Gentiles

might hear it. And I was delivered from the lion's mouth.

The Lord will rescue me from every evil attack and will bring me safely

to his heavenly kingdom. To him be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

The Gospel of Mark

2 Timothy 4:16-17

At my first defense, no one came to my support, but everyone deserted

me. May it not be held against them. But the Lord stood at my side and

gave me strength

So even if you don’t have a Barnabus, you have Jesus Christ
