DevConnect Compliance-Tested for Interoperability

The ApplianX IP Gateway works with

Avaya Aura® Communication Manager

via Avaya Aura Session Manager to

connect with the PSTN and other

communications systems within the

enterprise, regardless of protocol.

Communication Manager and Session

Manager are part of the Avaya Aura

Platform, a set of seamless components

that provide comprehensive team and

customer engagement solutions,

transforming traditional, single-purpose

solutions for voice, video, e-mail and

multimedia, multimodal architecture.

The ApplianX IP Gateway provides one,

two or four universal T1/E1 interfaces.

It supports several global signalling

protocols, including SIP, PRI/ISDN and

CAS types, R1, R2 and DTMF, and PBX

protocols such as QSIG and DPNSS.

Aculab’s ApplianX

IP Gateways are a vital

component in any VoIP

migration strategy. Tailored

to perform call control and

Supplementary Services

conversions, the gateway

can help organizations

cost-effectively migrate

from TDM to VoIP.

Cost-effectively migrate from TDM to VoIP

Supporting a wide range of IP and TDM protocols, the ApplianX IP Gateway

is a single-purpose gateway that is easy to configure and maintain. This

versatility makes it a cost effective option for organizations migrating to an

IP/SIP communications environment.

The ApplianX IP Gateway is a plug and play appliance that helps reduce

operational costs and ease the transition from TDM to Voice over IP (VoIP).

By deploying the gateway, organizations can migrate to VoIP at their own

pace, implementing the IP-based solution to regional and branch offices

using a phased approach. The ApplianX IP Gateway fully supports

Supplementary Services, helping maintain functionality between offices

until the transition is complete.

The gateway’s

comprehensive

call routing engine

controls traffic

between the IP/SIP

and TDM domains,

enabling a wide

range of dynamic

routing and load

balancing options.

The gateway’s comprehensive call routing engine controls traffic between the

IP/SIP and TDM domains, enabling a wide range of dynamic routing and load

balancing options. It offers local site and branch office fallback to TDM,

providing remote branch office survivability should the SIP network fail. In

addition, the gateway allows conversion of Supplementary Services, such as

Divert, Route Optimization, Message Waiting Indicator, Call Back, and

Transfer to SIP.

Features & Benefits

Easy to Manage

The ApplianX IP Gateway includes a comprehensive SNMP-ready management

suite, consisting of a web browser GUI and set-up wizard. The familiar interface

tools make it simple and straightforward to install, configure and maintain.

Administrators can begin set-up right out of the box, without the need to

acquire new skills.

Global Solution

Because it works with many global protocols, the gateway can be connected to

any TDM/PSTN network anywhere in the world. Providers can serve a diverse

customer base with a single appliance and avoid the challenges of managing

disparate network interfaces in a variety of geographies.

Seamless Integration

The gateway allows enterprises to use

a phased approach when migrating

from a TDM to an all-IP solution.

Enterprises can continue to employ

their TDM system during the

transition to IP, gradually rolling out

the new IP-based system to regional

and branch offices without impacting

the business.

Operational Resilience

With a range of dynamic routing

options for SIP/TDM conversions, the

ApplianX IP Gateway automatically

routes calls away from unresponsive

end points. In addition, the gateway

provides load balancing between

end points on a round robin basis

for redundancy. In the event of an

external IP network failure, calls can

fallback to and from the PSTN,

enabling the gateway to complete

core inbound and outbound calls.

System Requirements

The ApplianX IP Gateway is a

standalone appliance. It can connect

to both SIP- and TDM-based

equipment:

• Avaya Aura Platform r7.0 using SIP

and RTP over dual, redundant

Ethernet, RJ-45 connectors

• TDM via E1/T1 network interface

connectors
