Acupuncture is one of the major and popular treatments in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).

It serves to maintain good health as well as to treat medical conditions by restoring the body to its dynamic state of balance. It stimulates specific points

in the body using needles in order to elicit our natural healing responses.

Research has shown that acupuncture can actively promote circulation, reduce inflammation and trigger the release of natural painkillers. It is known to activate bodily processes through the endocrine and immune system.

Vacuum cupping is a complementary therapeutic technique where plastic cups are used to apply suction on the body in accordance to the concepts of TCM. It opens our pores, promotes blood circulation, realigns our energy and removes toxins from our body.

Vacuum cupping eliminates the risk of burns which comes with traditional flame cupping. It is a refreshing, relaxing and energising experience.

Acupuncture treats a wide variety of conditions. Some have been listed by the World Health Organization. This list is by no means exhaustive; please consult our acupuncturist to learn more.

How you can benefit from acupuncture?

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

1. Does treatment hurt?Acupuncture needles are extremely fine. Most people feel no pain or very little pain when theyare inserted. They often say they feel energisedor relaxed after the treatment. The proceduremay cause temporary soreness. Cupping is usually painless. 2. Are the needles sterilised? We use pre-sterilised, individually packed disposable needles which minimise the chances of infection.

3. What can I expect during treatment?Fine stainless steel needles will be inserted at specific acupoints of the body. Heat or electrical stimulation might be used simultaneously to boost the therapeutic effect. Acupuncture lasts for about 20 minutes. Should you require cupping, the cups will be left on for about 5 minutes.

4. How do I prepare for acupuncture?• Bring along your identification document and other relevant medical past

records or films.• Ensure that you do not come on an empty stomach, yet avoid heavy

meals just prior to treatment.• Wear comfortable clothes.

5. How many sessions will I need?Since everyone is unique, an individualised treatment plan will be discussed with you during your first visit. In general, acute conditions will require fewer sessions than chronic ones.
