Volume 1 Issue 1June
Official Newsletter From The New Division 5 Lieutenant Governor.
Meet you new Lieutenant.
Well for starters I’m Adam Yousef, I’m going to be a junior this upcoming school year. I’m a pretty outgoing person and easy to talk to, I love music, hanging out with friends, and texting. Key club I can truly say is my life, I joined Key club my freshmen year in high school because I love to volunteer and help out the people around me. Each year I put in countless hours and rise up and help out when ever needed. Being in Key club has shown me how much fun you can have when you’re putting your time and energy into something you love.

Fun facts about Memphis
• “Memphis” is also the name of an ancient Egyptian capital.
• It is the largest city in Tennessee, with about 670,000 residents, known as “Memphians.”
• Former Key Club member and music icon Elvis Presley’s former home, Graceland, is here. It is the second-most visited house in the United States (the first is the White House).
• Civil rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated in 1968 at the Lorraine Motel. The motel is now the site of the National Civil Rights Museum.
• Johnny Cash, Elvis and B.B. King, known as the “Kings” of country, rock ‘n’ roll and blues, respectively, all got their start in Memphis in the 1950s.
• Barbecue and the blues both are huge here, and both are available in abundance on Beale Street.
• Piggly Wiggly, the first self-service grocery store, was opened in Memphis in 1916.
• Sun Studio, the famous, downtown Memphis recording studio where Elvis—and many other musicians—got their start is still a functioning studio and a museum.
Major Emphases Programs
What is MEP?
MEP stands for Major Emphasis Programs.
Since 1925, Key Club International has provided more than 12 million hours of service to homes, schools and communities each year. From building bridges, to collecting over six tons of food, thousands of dollars raised for cancer research,
helping eliminate iodine deficiency disorder, Key Club International plays a vital role in serving the children of the world.
Every Key Club has the authority to select its own service projects because there usually are many more service needs in a community than there are service clubs and agencies to meet them. However, all Key Clubs are asked to participate in the
Major Emphasis Program (MEP): “Children: Their Future, Our Focus.”
Our three programs that we work with are Children’s Miracle Network, March of Dimes, and Unicef. Our service initiative for the year of 2008-2010 was live
to learn.
