Joe began working at Brown’s when he was 15...back when we used to sell hand-dipped ice cream out of an ice cream cart on the front porch. And, thanks to Joe’s memories of this, he’s been instrumental in bringing ice cream back inside the Market which will be open by mid-April and available year ‘round! Fun facts about Joe… At the beginning of every year, Joe makes a “Top 10 List” of celebrities he wants to meet. It’s his thing...and if you ever want to see just a glimpse of his meet & greet pics, just ask about his “famous wall” in our warehouse. Joe’s 2020 celeb list includes Ellen DeGeneres and Anthony Hopkins. Joe is also an avid baseball fan and enjoys taking pictures at York Revolution games. When he’s not snapping pics, he enjoys spending time with his wife going to new places spur of the moment and being adventurous...like the time he went skydiving in Las Vegas! And the two of them love to go out to eat and try new foods! He has a cat named Lucky which he rescued when it was just weeks old and is now 8 (human) years old. Joe loves being around people and loves seeing and talking with all of our wonderful customers and employees here at Brown’s. Oh, and he loves volunteering to be a “taste tester” for all of the new Brown’s bakery goodies. So here's what's happening... In 2016, we planted 1300 peach trees that will be coming into production between this year and next. This is why we have removed so many old trees. They have reached their end of life. Typical lifespan for a peach tree in crop rotation is 15 years. This has been planned for some time and we are excited to bring some newer varieties to the market. In 2019, we planted 3,400 apple trees. Another reason we have been removing so many older trees and/or grafting trees. We are staging for the future to bring newer varieties that we have never had here at our farm. We are excited about this and looking forward to presenting these new fruits to our customers over the years to come. What’s going on with the Farm???

Typical lifespan for a peach tree in crop rotation is 15 years. This has been planned for some time and we are excited to bring some newer varieties to the market.
