St. Joseph's College and Suffolk County Community College

Specific to SCCCA.A.S. in Accounting and St. Joseph's College B.S. in Business Administration with a

Major in Accounting

This document is an addendum to the Articulation Agreement between Suffolk County Community

College and St. Joseph's College approved by both institutions and signed in December 11, 2011. This

addendum specifically addresses the transfer of students who have completed the A.A.S. program in

Accounting to the B.S. in Business Administration with a major in Accounting at St. Joseph's College.

This addendum is designed to facilitate the transfer of course credits from Suffolk County Community

College to St. Joseph's College as well as to facilitate and expedite the transfer process for students. All

provisions stated in the Articulation Agreement signed in December 2011 apply to this addendum as

well as the obligations as noted for each institution.

For transfer credit purposes, attached to this agreement is a chart of SJCcourse equivalencies for SCCC

courses in Business Administration and Accounting. The transfer course equivalencies are the result of

dialogue between SCCCand SJC'sAcademic Deans, Department Chairpersons and faculty members. SJC

liberal arts/core requirements and distribution requirements are also contained within this document.

Requirements for a baccalaureate degree are contained in the Articulation Agreement. This agreement

may be modified, including adding or deleting course equivalencies, upon agreement of both parties.

Degree Requirements for Bachelor of Science in BusinessAdministrationwith a Major in Accounting Students

• The successful completion of at least 128 credits, including all requirements, and

a cumulative GPA of 2.0 for coursework completed at St. Joseph's College.

Liberal Arts Requirements

• At least 60 credit hours must be completed in liberal arts.

• Liberal arts credits must be distributed among the five Thematic Learning Areas

as follows:

o Quest for Meaning (PHI 160 Introduction to Ethics or

PHI 268 Business and Ethics is required for this major) 6 crs.

o Global Perspectives (ECO120 Macroeconomics is required

for this major) 6 crs

o Self & Society 9 crs

o The Mathematical, Physical & Natural World (MAT 111

College Algebra and MAT 200 Math for Business and

Economics are required for this major) 9 crs

o Human Expression (SPC102 Speech Communication is required for

this major) 6 crs

• The following liberal arts courses must also be completed for this major:

o ECa 226 Microeconomics 3crs

o ENG103 Writing for Effective Communication 3 crs

o ENG110 Communication for Professionals 3 crs

o Liberal Arts Electives 14 crs

o SJC200 Transfer Seminar 1 cr

• In addition, transfer students must complete the required number of Integrated

Learning Areas as indicated on their Transfer Evaluation Record. This requirement,

however, can be fulfilled through courses in the thematic areas of the core (shown

above), the major, or electives, as well as through certain approved co-curricular activities.

Accountinq Major Requirements

• A minimum of 15 Accounting credits and 6 Business Administration credits must be

completed at St. Joseph's College.

• The following Accounting, Business Administration, and Computer Science

requirements must be met (in addition to those liberal arts courses required for

the major noted above).

o Students must complete the following Accounting courses:

ACC110 or ACC200, ACC211, ACC212, ACC213, ACC215, ACC241, ACC245,

ACC320, ACC342 and ACC417.

o Students must complete the following Business Administration courses:

BUS100, BUS150, BUS151, BUS219, BUS222, BUS315

o COM 140 or COM 141 Microcomputer Applications I or II

o Business electives (200-level or higher; may include graduate courses if

student is accepted to the B.S./M.B.A. in Accounting program)

• General Electives

C.P.A. Licensure

Students applying for licensure in public accountancy in the State of New York must satisfactorilycomplete 150 hours of professional education. At St. Joseph's College, this requirement can be met inone of two ways:

• Complete the 5-year, 152-credit B.S./M.B.A. in Accounting program, a licensure-qualifyingprogram approved by the New York State Education Department, Office of the Professions.Students are eligible for admission to the B.S./M.B.A. program after completing ACC213Intermediate Accounting II and 90 credits. Transfer students are eligible to apply for admissionto the B.S./M.B.A. program after completing 30 credits at the College. Students must apply tothis program through the Office of Enrollment Management and are required to have overalland accounting GPA's of 3.0. Students provisionally accepted to the graduate program arepermitted to enroll in four specified graduate courses (two courses in each of their last twosemesters). These four graduate courses will be applied to both the undergraduate andgraduate degrees.

• Complete the 128-credit B.S. in Business Administration with a major in Accounting and thencomplete the 36-credit M.B.A. in Accounting, a licensure-qualifying program approved by theNew York State Education Department, Office of the Professions. Students must apply to theM.B.A. program through the Office of Enrollment Management.

Applicants to the programs noted above must repeat all accounting and business prerequisite courseswith grades lower than Cbefore beginning their graduate studies. In addition, undergraduateprerequisite courses must be completed prior to graduate coursework to which they relate.
