1) Turn Editing On Click on the “Turn Editing On” button in top right hand

corner

2) Next, Add a Forum

Click on Add an Activity Choose Forum from the

drop down menu

3) General Forum Settings Type a name for the forum Then Click on the forum type menu and select the type of forum

you would like. It is recommended to start with a single simple discussion

Type the question or topic for discussion. The font size is defaulted as 8 point font

I recommend changing the font size to 14 pt.

Change Force Everyone to be Subscribed to “Subscriptions not allowed”

Turn Read Tracking On And Change the Maximum attachment size to 2MB

4) RSS Settings Set RSS feed

Set the Number of RSS recent articles to Posts

You don’t need to change anything in this section at all

6) Common Module Settings Group mode:

change only if you want to divide student into groups

Visible: Choose to Show to students or to Hide for later use

(You are probably ready to start. If so, set to Show)

Advanced Forum Tips: (Archiving)

After you have many single simple discussions, you can move all of them into one general forum for archiving.
