ROAD SAFETY ISSUES

Page 9: Addressing Safety Through Design for Dindoshi Terminal (Draft)

ACCESS TO TERMINAL

Large median gap allowing undefined movement and turns

Page 10: Addressing Safety Through Design for Dindoshi Terminal (Draft)

Poor terminal access: vending activities hinder pedestrian access / movement

Page 11: Addressing Safety Through Design for Dindoshi Terminal (Draft)

Poor visual access: hard-to-locate terminal

Page 12: Addressing Safety Through Design for Dindoshi Terminal (Draft)

• Single entrance point for buses and passengers

• Reduced driver visibility at entrance point

Page 13: Addressing Safety Through Design for Dindoshi Terminal (Draft)

Boarding-alighting activity onto a bus in motion

Page 14: Addressing Safety Through Design for Dindoshi Terminal (Draft)

Interchanging passengers are forced to walk across the open terminal ground, where buses operate

Page 15: Addressing Safety Through Design for Dindoshi Terminal (Draft)

Congested and haphazard parking within the terminal:• increases safety risk while pulling into

and out of parking spaces• very unsafe and hampers efficient bus

operations

DESIGN OBJECTIVES

Phase:1• Improve pedestrian safety and environment while accessing

the terminal.• Rationalise bus circulation within the terminal.• Reorganise terminal layout to reflect desirable and safe

movement and flow buses and pedestrians.• Provide better terminal facilities and improve safety for the

BEST driver and conductor staff.• Provide amenities for the users to increase safety and

usability within the terminal.

Phase 2: Integration with commercial component.
