President’s Report.Hello to all members and friends. Well we are currently in a crazy world of unknowing, not knowing when country music will be returning for our enjoyment, not knowing when footy will be starting again where fans can crowd the stands, not knowing when we can go to a deli for a coffee and cake and many other forms of enjoyment that we are not permitted to partake. I have had many phone calls with members wanting to know when country music will be back. Staying home in isolation has the ability of creating boredom. There is only so much TV that we can take. I have kept myself busy in the garden and a backlog of jobs inside the house such as painting etc. I also go out and help a couple of aged friends who are not very physical or active and clean their yards etc. I have also decided that as I don’t have a lot of cooking space in my house, I am building an outdoor kitchen. The area has been painted, new lighting installed and electricity extended to the bench location. Still a lot to do but promise to put a photo in the next issue of Country Call.

The ACMC will not resume until such time as there will be no restriction of people attending. It is not financially viable to have only limited attending with distant separation. It is all or nothing.

I was booked and looking forward to travel to Barham at the end of May for the Balladeers weekend, but that got cancelled and now have to wait till May 2021 for the next one.

There is not much to report on at present, but I was going through some far back years committee minutes and found some interesting items that are worthy of a mention.

1993 The Len Wakefield Memorial Fund was introduced with the purpose of assisting promising junior talent.

1994 Our club had 532 members This reduced substantially after ‘reciprocal’ membership was introduced. This permitted members of other clubs to get member’s door entry fees at all clubs.

1997 Country style Battle of the Bands show at the greyhound premises was adopted by committee - moved by myself (as Treasurer) to cancel the event due to a foreseeable loss but such motion was defeated by a secret ballot. Poorly attended and a loss of $6025 effected. Treasurer not happy.

1998 Survey carried out re our tenure at the greyhound club premises resulted in a negative vote of the venue.

1998 (December) committee meeting held at the Slovenian Club for committee members to inspect the premises.

1999 (February) First show held at the Slovenian club with the South East band Sandra Humphries and ‘Cross Winds’ with Reg Poole as guest artist and 350 members and guests attending

1999 (March) Second show with Graeme Hugo and band with 350 in attendance again. We never

reached that attendance again.

I am sorry to advise on a few health problems have been reported to me. Nola Trenerry has spent a week in the RAH with respiratory, lung and heart problems. (sadly Nola passed away). Barbara O’Daniel has fallen and dislocated, or broken her hip and is currently in Ashford hospital. Margy Cottam has also fallen and damaged her hip as well. Hoping all have a speedy recovery and are back with us when we reopen for country music. Anyone else with a medical discomfort that I am not aware of, I trust and hope you are all on the mend.

Well I hope you will keep being patient whilst this virus is in existence and I will endeavour to keep you all informed of any happenings that may arise.

Although she came into the world blind, a love of music and performing has given her a clear view of the world around her.Music has been an integral part of Kim’s life since her early years. She grew up on a farm just out of Pyramid Hill, where she learnt to play the Piano, Violin, Guitar and Organ all by the age of eight. When Kim was only 11, she began her performing career by entering talent quests, having won two grand finals by the time she turned 15.

I wish to thank all my friends and others for the cards and phone calls to celebrate my 90th

birthday.

Unfortunately, I had to cancel my party, which left me down in the dumps.

Then I received a message from a very special friend who wrote a song for me called ‘Ole Whitey’.

A very special young lady wrote the music and recorded it on YouTube.

I wish to thank Tanya Bertelsmeier and Charlotte and her father’s band for recording it. Also, the entire Dann family,

Tom Curtain and his lovely wife and Lee Kernaghan for birthday wishes.

If I have forgotten anyone, I apologise, thank you all.

only stood up for the first time Friday last week since leaving the hospital. Also her mental state is slipping badly the line between reality and imagination has gone, and she has bouts of extreme terror and hallucinations. The staff at the nursing home ring me to calm her down they have told me I calm her better than any medication they can give her. So unfortunately she won’t be coming home unless we get the miracle we are praying for
