1.) Can you or I tame the tongue?According to the bible its impossible so wh

even try?James 3:1-18 King James Version (KJV)3 My brethren, be not many masters, knowing that we shall receivethe greater condemnation.

2 For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body.

3 Behold, we put bits in the horses' mouths, that they may obey us;and we turn about their whole body.

4 Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven ofierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm, whithersoever the governor listeth.

5 Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things.Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!

6 And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among

our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire thecourse of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.

7 For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things inthe sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind:

8 But the tongue can no man tame; it is anunruly evil, full of deadly poison.

9 Therewith bless we God, even the Father;and therewith curse we men, which are madeafter the similitude of God.

10 Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessingand cursing. My brethren, these things oughtnot so to be.

11 Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweetwater and bitter?

12 Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear olive berries? eithera vine, figs? so can no fountain both yield salt water andfresh.

13 Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge amon

you? let him shew out of a good conversation his workswith meekness of wisdom.

14 But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glorynot, and lie not against the truth.

15 This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.16 For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and everevil work.17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, thenpeaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy andgood fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.18 And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them thamake peace.

James 3:1-18 (MSG)3 1- 2 Dont be in any rush to become ateacher, my friends. Teaching is highlyresponsible work. Teachers are held to thestrictest standards. And none of us is perfectlyqualified. We get it wrong nearly every timewe open our mouths. If you could findsomeone whose speech was perfectly true, youd have a perfect person, in perfect controlof life.

5-6 It only takes a spark, remember, to set off a forest fire. Acareless or wrongly placed word out of your mouth can do that.By our speech we can ruin the world, turn harmony to chaos, throw mud on a reputation, send the whole world up in smokeand go up in smoke with it, smoke right from the pit of hell.

7-10 This is scary: You can tame a tiger, but you cant tame atongue its never been done. The tongue runs wild, a wantonkiller. With our tongues we bless God our Father; with the sametongues we curse the very men and women he made in hisimage. Curses and blessings out of the same mouth!

10- 12 My friends, this cant go on. A sprindoesnt gush fresh water one day andbrackish the next, does it? Apple trees dontbear strawberries, do they? Raspberry

bushes dont bear apples, do they? Yourenot going to dip into a polluted mud holeand get a cup of clear, cool water, are you?

    Live Well, Live Wisely

13-16 Do you want to be counted wise, to build a reputation forwisdom? Heres what you do: Live well, live wisely, live humblIts the way you live, not the way you talk, that counts. Meanspirited ambition isnt wisdom. Boasting that you are wise isntwisdom. Twisting the truth to make yourselves sound wise isntwisdom. Its the furthest thing from wisdomits animal

cunning, devilish conniving. Whenever youre trying to lookbetter than others or get the better of others, things fall apartand everyone ends up at the others throats.

17- 18 Real wisdom, Gods wisdom, begins with aholy life and is characterized by getting along with

others. It is gentle and reasonable, overflowing withmercy and blessings, not hot one day and cold thenext, not two-faced. You can develop a healthy, robust community that lives right with God and

enjoy its results only if you do the hard work of getting along with each other, treating each otherwith dignity and honor.

ye are not under the law, but under grace.15 What then? shall we sin, because we are notunder the law, but under grace? God forbid.

5 For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor uncleanperson, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath anyinheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.6 Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of

these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.7 Be not ye therefore partakers with them.

9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.10 But when that which is perfect is come, then thatwhich is in part shall be done away.

in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown;but we an incorruptible.26 I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as onthat beateth the air:27 But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection:lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, Imyself should be a castaway.
