Hypertension. 2003;42:76-81.
Mechanism:
Olmesartan, an Ang II type-1 (AT1) receptor blocker (ARB),
inhibits overexpression of NADPH subunits and a transcriptional Factor
-PU1 (which upregulates the transcription of NADPH oxidase subunits)
Olmesartan meliorates dysregulation of other adipokines, including tumor
necrosisfactor-α, plasminogen activator inhibitor-1, serum amyloid A3,
and monocyte chemotactic protein-1.

SomeARBs, including irbesartan and telmisartan, have PPARγ-activating
properties, thereby stimulating adiponectin production.
